bansheeboy992000
Whats the major difference between coolheads and a shaved head? Which gives more to a motor (which is better)?
TwistedSheeRida
the cool head would be better i would think just cuz you can put whatever size dome you want in them.
Misssppelllleddd
the cool head would be better i would think just cuz you can put whatever size dome you want in them. that and they make your engine run cooler. a cool head is also a good thing to get if you want to change your crank to a stroker too because all you have to get is a new set of domes and pistons for a 4-mil crank. they come with o-rings too, so no more head gasket. the o-rings can be a pain in the ass but its really no big deal. i would say go with a cool head. don't go with trinity though because if you want to change to a stroker crank someday, then you will have to shell out more money for a new set of domes than if you buy a cool head. i managed to talk them down to matching the price but it took me forever to get the deal i wanted. potpye
If you are on a budget have the stock head shaved take .030 - .060 out of it. Cool head with 18-19cc domes will be the ultimate way to go. With these suggestions you will need to run higher octane fuel.
INFINITIED
i had a milled head on my banshee's for years, never a problem , gives you a little more compression and keeps some extra money in your pocket. i just swiched to a cool head a few months ago, just to keep from any head gasket problems while in glamis. Glamis and heavy duty dune riding puts alot of stress (load) on a bike. I have had no problems with the cool head either. the cool head will give you a little more compression over the milled head and a better seal. Just use correct domes (vito's will let you know what you need). if you increase you compression you will need higher octaine fuel . i used the vito's hemi head ! comes with new nuts and uses factory studs!! Worked out great.. rode in glamis for 7 days without a problem ! If your just doijng regular riding just mill the head. if you plan on going to the dunes with paddles go with the cool head just to save yourself the trouble. Not throwing opinion one way or another but just FYI a steel gasket will out perform an o-ring hands down, any day of the week. O-rings have their place and work on the Banshee but to say they are better than a gasket is a bit misleading. B

swrbansheeboy
Not throwing opinion one way or another but just FYI a steel gasket will out perform an o-ring hands down, any day of the week. O-rings have their place and work on the Banshee but to say they are better than a gasket is a bit misleading. agreed, i have two bikes built almost identical. one with a milled head and metal gasket and one with a cool head and o-rings, i think i've replaced the o-rings about 4 times in 8 years and never replaced the metal gasket once. nothing wrong with the cool head or engine, just that the o-rings gave out and i lost compression. also once the edge of the dome broke off. to me they both have there advantages. if you know what cc dome you want to run and never want to change your set up then go with a milled head, it's way cheaper. if you like the idea of being able to switch domes on the fly plus be able to just replace a dome when you frag a piston then do a cool head. keep in mind most of the time you have to purchase domes in pairs and there usualy as much as a milled stock head, plus make sure you purchase a cool head that uses the pro design style domes and o-ring kits. otherwise you will play hell trying to find parts at the local bike shop when you smoke a dome or an o-ring on your weekend riding trip...
