straight cut gears...... pros and cons if any

Here's my thoughts, Anything over 90-95 hp range should prolly consider them. THey dont really add hp BUT they do free up some hp that is already in there by freeing up some side load resistance and wear and tear. About 1-2 HP, no its not alot as it is more of a realiability thing than anything else. With the stock Heli-cut gears when you rev up the motor and dump the clutch it really pulls the crank and transmission over very hard to the side. The straight cuts eliminate the side pull and turn it into forward momentum. Plus when you get to that point your looking for everything you can possibly do get more out of them.

After shredding 2 right side crank bearings and multiple cushion destuctions,I switched to the straight cut, spring tension basket.Havn't had a single problem since.

No offense, but I'd like to know what the real problem was...

I hate to put words in other's mouths...but Dan Hull of A&S builds some of the fastest bikes on the planet.

That is a non-disputable fact.

On a smaller motor, he'd tell you they are a waste, both on his own personal bike and customer bikes as well.

I would see straight cuts as a last mod (in other words, other essentials are already on the motor) or a stepping stone for a bigger motor...
