What did I buy! and What should I do?

Recommended Posts

I made a post already, but i couldn't figure out how to change the title, cause i named it cheap banshee mods, and thats not even close to what I am wanting, and i figured it would get lost because everyone wants cheap mods. I am curious what I ended up with, and what i should do.

Theres the link to the previous post, if it should be moved, thats fine. If I shouldn't have posted here to, I apologize, and Mods you can delete it.

I just need to know what I should do! I dont want to spend alot of extra money, (keep it cheap), but with the mods it has already, I dont want to waste them by not using some of their potential. Any ideas what i should buy, or not buy?

Thanks guys, i really appreciate it!

Brian =)

Seems like you bought a shee thats ready to be parted out and sold.

That link is a long read.

Rebuild the top end, advance the timing and buy used parts from the for sale forum here on the HQ.

yeah, sorry about the long read. I picked it up for $260. I hate to part it out with all those nice parts though. Any idea why they would have had it at - 1 1/2 degrees?

260 is sweet, hell the front shocks cost more then that.

"-1 1/2 degrees" maybe its loose and the vibration moved it in the negative direction

Thanks Brugal, I appreciate the suggestions!,

Ya i know, I looked on the website (of course mine aren't new) and about shat myself when it said $1k for 2 shocks!

(thats also why my post was so long, i was excited! )

It doesn't look like the stator could have moved, and its tight!, but i suppose its possible. Or they just didn't have a clue were to set it?

Does this sound like a good plan?

Clean the cases out fromt he melted piston, reassemble with new pistons and a hone job (cylinder measures approx 64.80), find out what compression is with the stock style head (any specs so i can check if its been milled) to see what I need to run for gas (91 is all that is at the pump, but I may be able to get leaded AV gas, is it good to use?) Put timing at +4, Change the jets in the stock carbs ( to what, i dont know yet, has k&n and bills pipes, and im in Nebraska). And it should be a decent runner.

Sound good? Or should I put domes or mill the head if its not?

Im going to be trail riding and some flat land playing and sand drags.
