Override/Lockup

Recommended Posts

So my motor is fresh, everything is brand new inside.

Just built by Passion, bike runs like a champ. Its a very strong 4mil.

I also just put a FAST clutch.

Im having alot of shifting problems, Thinking its time for a override/lockup

What would be the BEST setup for me?

I do alot of trail riding, sand pits, and hill climbs. Glamis once a yr :banghead:

So what type of override/lockup thingy should i go with?

thanks Guys

the slingshot style lockups can fit under the OEM cover and are cheaper. However, if you wanna take the plate that holds the ball bearings off, you will have to put the engine sideways(take it out or flip the bike on it's side). I have the vito's one. Works great. Other type is more expensive and requires a special cover i believe. But you can work on it with the bike on all 4's.

override depends on your taste. I have a n-down 1-5 dunable. I dont see why someone would want anything else unless they NEED all 6 gears and strictly race asphalt.

I think that HERR JUGZ sells the one that you are talking about.

How does your bike shift? Is it smooth?

what type of riding do you do?

Why wouldnt you want all 6 gears?

I cant tell you about my taste bc i dont kno enough about them.

Okay, If im just cruising through the gears it will shift fine.

If im dragging or just real hard on the gas, it will not shift, I have to let off the gas completely, let the rpms drop and then shift.

Does it makes sense to just have a lockup, with out a override?

Like I said, if your parts are in decent condition and adjusted properly even with a lock-out it will/should shift fine. More people will tell you it won't because that's what they mostly read, but there are a few of us that have it setup fine that works like normal.

I have the vitos style which has longer channels for the ball bearings. My builder recommended it. I gave HJR a call but he was out of stock and i didnt feel like waiting so i went with the vitos. I'm happy with my vitos though. Works like a champ even with my very old worn out clutch that slipped like crazy before the lockup.

Bike shifts like butter. Way easier than it ever did. Only time it doesnt upshift good is if it's being backloaded which is a no no anyways with an override.

I play ride with some friendly drag racing on occasion.

I never said i didnt want all 6 gears. The only dunable with 1-5 didnt have a m6 when i was buying my override. I just recently learned WCR makes n down 1-5 m6 dunables now. I got my overide in 6 days from a guy in MI. Shifts amazing and his service/shifting and not to mention pricing was awesome. I'm pretty sure i could sell my override and make most of my money back but i dont feel like splitting my cases again.

Everyone will be diffrent,my bike shifted well with no tranny mod,but three others dont .Ill try and adjust your shift shaft when we do the pancake bearing, maybe something came out of line.I would think if forks and shit were bad there would have been a mention of it from Jim,
