Doddy
I just got a set of FMF Fatty's and installed them a few weeks ago. I haven't had a chance to take it out yet because I've been swamped with work. I was checkin my bike out cause I'm heading out for the weekend and I noticed that the coolant line that comes off the bottom of the radiator into the crank case is touching the exhaust. What can I do to fix this? If I wrap the coolant line in insulated heat tape will that protect it? The last thing I want is for that hose to melt out for me to loose all the fluid out of the radiator in the middle of the sand.
mopar1rules
my buddies is like that too. it will melt the hose. his is like that from the engine not being "shimmed" properly. he's missing those 2 fancy washer things and i believe that's your problem as well. Doddy
I don't think it is that. I bought my bike brand new last year and just put these pipes on. I doubt that it was shimmed incorrectly from the factory. I bought the pipes used of fleebay and I think they are just sitting weird on the bike. xXBlessedWithDeathXx
sounds to me as if you coolant line is ran the wrong way.
Doddy
I thought that might be it as well so I took it off and switched it around and it didn't fit right. The chamber on the exhaust is what is touching the coolant line, it is touching right where the line goes into the crank case, on the first bend. Unfortunately I don't have a pic. My SST's do that in the same spot. Not much you can do at this location. I have not melted through the hose after about 20 hrs of operation. I tried the heat tape route, it ended up falling of after a short period. Just shitty FMF pipes if you ask me  The other side hits the Coolhead and buzzes constantly, anyone want a set of pipes? :yelrotflmao:

black sunshine
zip ties will fix that problem.be creative.had to do it before. Guess you have to see it to believe it... hose is mashed directly where it comes out of the pump cover, there is no flexibility in the affected area
Doddy
I guess I'm just going to have to use the heat tape and hope for the best.
Bill
Im in the process of building my banshee and I ran into the same problem,I have FMF fattys also. I took the protective spring off another rad hose I had lying around and put it there where it touches. I might throw a couple zip ties on it to hold it back also. Good luck
jmoore
I have fattys too and the same thing. My hose rests up on the pipe. It's been that way for a few years and have not seen any signs of it melting.

mopar1rules
i have fatty's as well, and neither of my pipes rest on the engine head or coolant hose. i have like a 1/4"-5/16" gap, between the hose and clutch side pipe. maybe i got a good set?? 350BANSHEE350
easy fix. my t5 were like that, i just got a rad hose that would slide over top and cut about a 2 inch length of it slid it on so now it touches the pipe, no problems at all over 100hrs
official_style
flip the hose around, so the metal part is where the waterpump is. t5 intructions tell you to do this.
