official_style
Everywhere else I have read to take the oil injection off, as it is the main cause of engine failure in the waveraider. Mine is a 700cc, not 1100. In the clymers book for it, it says if it is run in salt water, to run the engine out of the water with fresh water connected for 10-15 mins. Then it says disconnect water and rev it wit a few blips to 3/4 throttle, for no more than 15 seconds then shut it off.

I know Yamaha would love you if you followed the book to the letter. To say that the oil injection causes engine failure would be ridiculous. Those boats are getting old and hoses wear out. Lack of maint can kill any boat. Lack of oil ruins engines, not oil injection. B Edited May 28, 2009 by blowit
official_style
to change everything in the oil injection system is $250. everyone on the pwc forums says these things run better with premix at 40:1, as the injection dumps way too much oil at lower speeds and idle. i have had my fair share of bad stealership experiences, last time i had a banshee at a dealer, i got it back with 2 different needles in it, and one of the carb idle screws stripped out. last time i ever went to a dealer. i guess its more the hoses and filters that fail, not the pumps. I am not sure what you are "changing" for 250 bucks but terminating the injection is as simple as unplugging it. "zero" dollars. I am not exactly touting my dealership experience but I did get to see most of the common problems with boats. Sounds like you are reaching for the pliers already to unplug it so get with it. BUT, when your girl friend/drunk buddies/guy on the other side of the cove that is just helping out/etc dumps straight gas in your boat because 99% of them run injection, you will get your "justification for modification". Again, I am not a huge fan of the injection but what I listed is VERY common but if you will have complete control of your ride, things should work fine. 2001Stroker
Yea dude, you don't have to buy that $250 kit. Just rip it all out. They sell a block-off plate, that looks almost like the brake block-off on your banshee. It's cheap.
official_style
i took the pump off, it looks perfectly fine. im just going to change the lines going to and from it, and see how it works. im going to do that, change the fuel lines, put in a new steering cable, new fluids and plugs and see if it starts. i did order the primer system, i have read that makes it very easy to start. i would rather use the oil injection if possible i guess

B i didnt even think of the whole drunk people, sluts etc not mixing gas thing. im going to try it with the injection, ill see how it runs. Believe what I say, 99% of problems associated with the injection system is either a deteriorated oil line or some "crafty" mechanic has had there hands on it and things are not plumbed right. The oil pump is almost bullet proof. PTO driven, geared design, etc. Once you study the setup, there is very little to go wrong except the rubber lines. Again, I am not a huge injection fan but you really have to think about that drunk blonde that might "do you a favor" and have her "other" boyfriend fill it up after an all afternoon disappearance. Then hand you the key and say "it will not start for some reason". We got all the funny ass stories at the stealership. Boat people are another (airy) breed. B
