flyRTby
Fair waring this is really hard to explain. i know im a nwb my first and second gear, at steady 1/4 throttle speed, it feels like im starving for fuel and bogs down..i almost have to rev my way out of not stalling. and it continues to do this. cruise, bog, cruise bog, all in first and second. then once in 3rd its smooth. WOT also smooth. my bike is bone stock. and i just re-built the carbs. almost positive the jet size was the same. 205 i believe not 100% positive i'd have to check the old one. i bought the carb sync tool. and both carbs are pulling the same exact vaccum at idle. and both slides open at the same exact time. where should i start? vulvafan537240
did you mess with the air screws while cleaning the carbs? make sure there is no dirt or anything stopping up the pilot circuit.
flyRTby
im pretty sure i did. i counted 2.5 turns, maybe 3 out. i matched it up before i unscrewed it
HAUSERSMOTORSPORTS
i had the same bog and my bike is also stock. i tried running it with my airbox lid off and the bog is gone. Without the lid it fucking rips for stock. Edited May 26, 2009 by HAUSERSMOTORSPORTS
flyRTby
when i run her with the air box off i get a "raspy" air sound when i hit the throttle. pretty much the same sound i got when i was running the bike with the air box and boots completely removed to sync the carbs.. ill try it though... one other thing is i adjusted my slides by watching them and adjusting till they were both EXACT.. was this the proper way?? or should i have used the sync tool at 1/4 throttle or whatever steady RPM?? thanks. Sounds to me like your jetting is off. The sync tool is the way to go for adjusting slides, but Ive done many bikes without it, and it will work without it. I would NOT run the bike without the airbox lid on, it is NOT jetted for that, and it is NOT a fix. You are just leaning it out then which isnt good. As far as the carb synch, I set my slides at idle first by using the slide adjustment screws(or the TORs tops if you havent removed them) Then I set them at 1/4 throttle using the crab tops where the cable comes in. Is the bike bone stock? No pipes or anything like that? I think they had a 200 main in them stock with a 25 pilot. But don't quote me on that. There definately isnt a 205 in Mikuni jets, so I would double check that too. You should be able to serach the jetting forum and find someone with the same setup so youll know where you should be at. flyRTby
bone stock. not even a K&N pro-flow do-jobber. I'm going off mental picture memory so it was either a 200 or maybe a 210 jet? like i said i will double check that when i get home. hope thats all my problem is.. thanks again for the help

DallasGDub
I am having this same issue. Jetted that bike UP and DOWN the spectrum. Nothing. I am looking into the reeds also. Seems like that they may be sticking open. Will keep you posted.
