My squish?

My squish or what ever its called is .028, should I worry about this?? I think i read it should be between .030 and .040. I've got a ported 4mill with a stock head cut. I could see on my old head, the piston was hitting the head. I guess at high rpm, but I never heard any noise from it. I had a new head cut a little while back and it's making 165psi cold if this matters idk. I just wanna know if I should get a thicker head gasket and will this lower my compression if I do?

Someone correct me if im wrong, but could you put a thicker cylinder base gasket on to change port timing?

I'm assuming this is supposed to be a pump gas motor? Seems a little tight to me, throw a second head gasket in there and that should put ya about where you need to be. It will lower the compression slightly which would be good if you're running 93. At 165 psi on the gauge with a ported top end I would be worried about detonation on pump fuel.

What pipes and exhaust duration do you run?

It's got small bore CPI inframes on it and I don't know the exhaust duration. It's Kevin Herr's aggressive dune port. I do run race gas in it, but I've been thinking about mixing it 50/50 because it's doesn't have crazy compression and it's only 6 degrees advanced.

there is only so much you can do with a stock head so i believe your cut for the squish is limited if i'm not wrong.but yeah .028 is too tight.try to get it closer to .040 or maybe alil over.is there a reason you didn't go with a aftermarket head?i just changed my setup and put a .012 thicker base gasket on and it droped my compression 20 pds and yes it will change your durations with a thicker base gasket

You can go up 10 thou on the base gasket. That would get you into a better squish range. It wont mess with the durations enough to screw up your power band.
