bada450r
every time i go to the dunes theres fewer and fewer people, i mean glamis is always empty nowhere near what it used to be a few years back....i been to pismo a few times and is just me and tony racing eachother....i was just at dummont for the hq ride and other than the inlad boys that showed up it was just us[and tim if you read this, this is what i was talking about with the comment i made outthere]i just hope that the economy doest bring our sport down, i mean if people dont show than the tree huggers will have a good reason as to why they should shut down our riding areas.i hope to see the dunes the way they used to be a few years back. i also remember the good old days when builders used to go outhere and race for king of the hill what happen to all that?where are the new crop of builders? hjr should be on that list, maybe rubdubs racing other than that i dont see any new up and coming talent[maybe am just blind] it was just good times when you could look foward to banshee wars and know that there was going to be some hard core racing going on. maybe am just getting old.......but i wouldnt mind spending a few more weekends the way things were, just a little more drama, just a little more racing[dunning] and maybe just a little more drinking. ::
Stellar Performance
I hear ya brother. Presidents day in Glamis was pretty weak compared to previous years. And I think the economy has began to takes it toll in our sport as well. Dont get me wrong. There were still a lot of people there with expensive toys. But nothing like we've seen in the past. I know a lot of us have this disease where we spend way too much of our money on our toys. Even when times are tough, we some how manage to find ways to buy new parts. The last thing I really need to do is build a new bike right now, but I am! Thats just how it goes. And I also agree that it would be nice to see more builders taking the time out to be able to make the big weekends and show us who the current top dogs are. I would love to see some of the respectable builders from this site "M&M, HJR, F.A.S.T., etc" show up and see how there builds do against the builders that are referred to as "The best in the business" by other sites. And by other sites, I'm sure you all know which one I am talking about. LETS KEEP OUR SPORT ALIVE AND GROWING
wesw
one reason i dont or cant go is my paychecks are a third of what they used to be. and i live in a really cheap area so its not breaking me but it sure the fuck isnt making me go hmm i really need to go to the dunes. also my buddies are about the same. hard to get a group of guys to go and split the cost to get there. as for the builders i would just be grinding and building and saving money. got a really good feeling money is going to get tight. unless something happens. gas is starting to go back up again. reason i think lot of this is economy went south is high fuel for everyone. everytime i open up the paper its more layoffs, if almost funny now but i can count more people that are laid off than working. lot of guys worked in the airplane field they are laid off now around here. bada450r
very well said guys.........lowbuick[i know its lowbuck]did something for our sport this season and raffled that bike..i think we need people like jb to keep doing things that are going to motivate people into looking at life period, and our sport in a positive way.....at the same time like tim said we need that new crop of up and coming new talent to see how they stand against the old dogs that have been in the game for so long.....knt, dnm, lcperformance, natemcoy, pakard, rudy kurts, and others that am forgetting.ive jet to see that......no offense to anyone and am not trying to start drama but i would like to get people and builders alike to get back in the simplicity of building some badass motors\setups.all am trying to do is have a great year in our  sport and wish the best of luck to everyone else. BigRed350x
Things here in wyoming haven't really slowed down much. At least where I work. I just picked up two new dune bikes and going to work on hopping the new banshee up some more. But yeah, our dunes seem a little more empty than normal. All the out-of-stater's are staying away. That's fine with me, since they are usually the ones trashing the dunes and camping areas.
bansheefreak18
No shit man!!! I'm also trippin on that as well! I went to the 9th Annual Extreme ATV expo in Costa Mesa this past weekend, and it sucked the biggest balls!! Hardly any vendors where out there this year. I live in the San Fernando Valley and It was a waste of time for me to drive out to Costa Mesa, then drive back! Man, if this recession is the cause of all of this madness where people are not riding any more, I dont know what we all would do fiddling our thumbs when holidays roll around?!?! We still need a get away to relieve the everyday rat race stress, why not get out and go riding for the weekend?

bennieben
i noticed the same thing here in nevada. halloween, thanksgiving, new years, presidents day all were not the same as other years in dumont or amargosa. both places seemed empty compared to other times. i guess people are saving money and being careful not to get fired from their jobs. it sucks.
