Oh boy!!!! Well you might skip shift and bog down so you will def know if your missing a gear....Or if that gear needs to be in there to keep the spacinng on the shafts correct you might be in trouble! serius4play
umm id say that ya u need that in there. looks like one that moves with the shift forks? send a side vew of it and i could tell ya.
spurdy
It is definitely a tranny part to something. Do you work on other motors or something that it could belong to? It doesn't look like a YFZ 350 tranny part to me. Maybe Dave or someone with more tranny experience will chime in. I also don't think that spacing will be a problem cause snap rings or shift forks should locate everything. SP

Misssppelllleddd
It really looks like that small gear that goes on the clutch basket. Idk if that gear is capable of coming off though. :ermm: I've torn my engine down many times and it looks really familiar.
Bill
Im pretty sure you would notice upon putting the engine together if you were missing a gear. Did you use a clymers manual?

I don't know man. I've forgot to put the shift mechanism in before I put the entire clutch assembly on. We all forget things from time to time. But then again his bike wouldn't kick over if that gear was missing.
Bill
I got my engine completely apart right now and I looked at everything and the only gears that look remotely similar are the gears in the transmission. Did you take apart the transmission?
