It flows the same, both ways, and besides, the tool measures the air coming into the backside of the carbs, not the fuel/air mixture going out the front, which is what the balance tube will affect. That carb sync tool is the shit. No matter how good of an eye you think you've got, you'd be surprised how far off they really are. rubberneck Posted April 14, 2009 Report Share Posted April 14, 2009 do they work on any size carbs? There are adaptors to make it work with any size. I have an old one that i used on my VW's, so i didn't have the correct adaptor. I just went to the local ACE hardware and found one of the rubber fittings that you would use to connect cast iron pipe to pvc that fit snug over the carbs and then reduced down to seal on my synch gauge it works perfect.
