i have been having similar problems. My bike broke when i was out in ocotillo and it appeared just to be the slide in the right carb being stuck. But when i fixed that it still didnt work. I replaced the tors because the idle screw on it was broken but it still wont turn on. Could somebody help? :banghead:

Either scrap the tor and get a kit or buy a set of 28mm PWK's and problem will be solved.

I've had just about every problem that has been suggested. Sounds like a fuel problem imo. After my first rebuild, bike did the same thing. Had to clean the carbs 2 or 3 times and it finally ran right. Let us know what you find. Good luck

dont mean to hijack the post but..

I have the same problem also, left side is much weaker than right at the exhaust. left is kind of just puffing and right is popping and smacking. you can hear it when left fires, engine revs a bit and then puffs. feels like compression is weak but when you run it WFO, it hauls balls. no problems.

I have replaced carbs, swapped coil wires, changed the right carb with a different one, removed tors, changed gas line, changed gas, changed jetting all to no avail.

everything looks good, sync, slides are in correct.

could it be a reed taking a dump? I have the reed out on that side but dont know how to tell if they are bad. they are white pedals. pistons look nice and new through the port on the side, cant see the top.

the bike runs perfect, driving around, WFO and all, it just bothers me that it is weak on the exhaust on the left side.

I "THINK" that I figured it out, at least mine.

idle adjustment...

one carb slide was higher than the other, it would idle good, run fine but one side just popped more than the other. I reset them, adjusted them even, now I have exhaust comming from both pipes at the same pressure, and the smoke alternates between the two. I was getting shit loads of smoke from one, and almost nothing from the other.

the weak cylinder was the one that was higher than the other, it must have been pulling more air, and the other side had more gas than air, hence the extra smoke and more pop.

also why it went away and ran great on the big end, you take away that carb sync scenario, and poof, you have good power, just a funky idle.

hope this helps, i JUST got done doing mine for the past 3 hours trying to track it down, from compression tests, to reeds, replacement carbs.

to what did reset the idle to? did you close them all the way and how many times did you turn it?
