Or.. it might not be built strong enough and will twist up like a pretzel.

I'm hoping it dont twist like a pretzel... lol The frame I have is all aluminum and so are the a-arms and steering stem. I can pick up the bare frame with one hand and place it over my head . It has been used for 300ft drags and never had a problem. But it has never seen some mean whoops on sand so I'm hoping it can take the abuse. But my rolling chassis weighed in at 83 lbs. That was with dirt tires and spindles on the front. So i figure my spindle mounts will drop around 10 lbs off of that. So unless the motor, carbs, pipes and chain weigh over 130 lbs i'll be under 200.

I've got every light weight part available and mine is a Jarm chassis on top of that. I think mine race ready is 260 to 280, but once I button it back up, I'm gonna weigh her so I know how much weight I'm saving when i get my new frame.

Gotta weigh it with the wheelie bar, too...of course.

All aluminum frame? Good luck on that....better get Geico....and Aflack.

All aluminum will twist and bend from the torque. It takes twice as much aluminum to match the strength of moly. So the weight savings would be minimal if any.. If the chassis was built correctly.. I saw one on ebay awhile back. No way I would run that.. its just a accident waiting to happen. It will fail... its just a matter of time. Lets just hope your not doing 70+ when somthing decides to go.

Yeah...I hate to break it to you. But if the aluminum chassis was built with any common sense, it would only weigh a matter of a few pounds less than a chromoly one. On average it takes at least, but usually more than twice the wall thickness of 4130 to be able to build a strong enough chassis, not to mention even more bracing. As far as aluminum arms go, same thing. I can hold any one of my chromoly drag chassis over my head with no problems at all as well. I'm not trying to sound like an ass, so please dont read this wrong. But some where your math is not adding up. Most banshee motors weigh in right around 80 pounds. Most full chromoly hillshooter chassis weigh in around 30-35 pounds. Then start adding arms, shocks/struts, swingarm, chain, axle, wheels/tire, brakes, pipes, carbs, radiator, hoses, electrical, stem, bars, spindles, bolts, nuts, etc, etc.......it adds up really quick. Next thing you know you are still up to 250 or so.

So what you guys are all saying is if i want to drop some serious weight off my drag build, the best way is to give up cheesburgers and fries. damn. maybe ill just build a bigger motor, that sounds easier.

Building a bigger motor is easier. Just not cheaper. Hahaha.
