oneslowshee
Well with that weight, you'll probably need a little lower gearing than what's been recommended. yeah , i am thinking with my weight 13 42 should be ok.

Thack82
QUOTE (oneslowshee @ Mar 29 2009, 09:31 PM) sorry for not posting what i have done.. 421 cub, 40mm lectrons on alky, shearer out of frame small bore, tires are 12 paddle 22" cannot really think of anything else. let me know what you guys think i should be running? i think a 13 42 should be ok?> 18 -34 seems to tall.. 13/42 you will run out of gear way before the traps in 500 feet.................. I agree with him. I have stock jugs punched .020 with a Hot Rod's Crank, Wiseco Ultra-Lite pistons, Paul Turner Mids, Trinity Cool Head (21cc Domes), Boyesen Power Reeds in Billet Cages, Stock Carbs with 290 mains and #30 pilots, and a High Flow Foam Ready Filter in the air box with the lid on and the snorkel off, and no port work. I ran 13/42 gearing on my Banshee and it made it slow, it was great for trail riding but it sucked for racing all the 13 tooth did was make my bike spin and shorten my power band. I'm running 15/42 now and it made night and day difference. Lower gearing has it's place but it's not drag racing IMO.
RadarRacing
I too think 13/42 is slightly low. 14/41 or 42 is what I'd try. You should have too much tire for that short of an arm and 280lbs but it depends on the track.
Pasi S.
OK, because this was already asked, I´m will not start a new one. I need your opinion here: -What gearing? 1st: 421CUB, race gas, CPI inframes, 96hp, stock frame, 230 rider, +8 swing arm, 22" Maxxis 4 Snows on 9" wheels??? ....maybe strutbar, no wheeliebar We were thinking something between 14-41 and 15-40. Last year, the ET was 7.25 with this bike. 15-40, +2 swing arm, launching 1.st. 2nd: 350 stock cyl, ported, T5´s, 35PWK´s on pump gas. around 60-65hp, stock frame, +6 swing arm, 245 rider, 22" ProWedgeII on 8" Blue labels. ...maybe strutbar, no wheeliebar I was told to start from 14-42 and go from there. Launching 2.nd No time or testing with this bike. Both are running stock trannys Thank you! -Pasi S.
tedd1
I have 421 cub, +12 swingarm, 22x11x8 12 pdl extremes, weigh 220, 5 speed trans. I run 300' with 14-41 gears, leave in 2nd. works well for the 300' but 500' would need a 15 up front or 6 spd tranny.
Pasi S.
Thank you tedd1. Both has 6 speed trannys. So 14-40 and 14-41 should be close for 500ft. I´ll start 14-42 (350) and if I don´t have powa enought to launch in 2nd, I go down to 13-41. -Pasi S.
