SteelerBob
Ok maybe it's the "windin down from the week booze" talkin or maybe it's that totally in love phaze with my first shee thing. You know like the first few months of an awesome relationship? Shee is all I can think, shee consumes my thoughts... I was listening to some old toons, (yeah I am on old dude) Pearl Jam's Ten cd, Candlebox, Tesla, Alice In chains and enjoying some cold ones. I am doing some Inet surfin and find a test from ATV rider magazine on the 03 shee. They are all talkin shit about it... old dinosaur, suspension sucks, why would anyone ride this? Only for nostagia purposes, can't compare to a modern 4 poke etc... blah blah blah..ad nauseum. PISSED ME OFF!! It got me to thinking too. Why do I love this quad so much? Why do we all love our banshees? I think for all of us the reason will be different but with some common threads. So I thought I would share mine and I would love to hear what makes her special to you as well. I know I am new around here but I think you can all see the love I put into my shee before I even took her for a ride! I worked on her for a month spending every spare dime before even cranking her over. My story goes back to 1982 when I bought my first dirt bike with money I had saved from bussing tables on fri and sat night at the steak house across the street. I was 14 and hooked on dirt. rebuilt my first engine at 15 including tooling my own cylinder in machine shop for an xr200. I rode dirt bikes for the next 4 years until I got married and lost my edge. I was worried about getting hurt, 'who would take care of my wife?' One of my buddies had bought one of the original quadracer 250's and we teased him about it. Real men did it on two wheels LOL. I had to try it out tho and found that I wasn't worried while on it about layin it over, everything felt so natural. I picked up a thrashed 85 LT250r of my own in 86 and restored it. I loved it! I was a YAMAHA man tho. My bro Brian was into Honda and Honda was king in the 80's offroad scene. Magazine shootouts were huge braggin rights through my teens and I always defended my Yammerhammers. 1987 and here comes the Banshee and I was instantly in love. Like a V-Max for the dirt! So much power and personality and looked so much meaner than the trx 250's and even my own Suzook. I was soon to be a first time father tho so no way I could afford one. I dreamed of having one some day of my own. That dream never completely died. Well 2 yrs later my wife split and stole my quadracer. I went through a messy divorce and picked up a cheap dirtbike again just to have something to ride. Rode it for a couple years and just somehow faded out of offroading. Fast forward 14 years. I met my current wife and she got me into street riding. I ride an 05 R6 and a 00 Sabre 1100 as well. I am now 40 and make a decent living. My nephew in law is running on hard times and is going to sell his dad's old banshee which just happens to have been the personal race bike of one of the NE Oklahoma's best banshee guru's. Nice fat tax return and bam, I know have realized a 22 yr old dream of owning my own banshee. That first ride was magical. I don't care about the suspension, the handling. I love the 'feel', the unmistakable sound and look of this one of a kind kick ass classic. I will keep this girl forever for personal sentimental reasons. Makes me want to buy another and tear it down and pack every part away in long term storage to ensure i will have parts after they stop making them. I don't care what the Raptor can do, I don't care how much plusher or better handling the YFZ 450 is. I don't even want to ever ride one cuz I am perfectly happy with my shee. One nice thing about being away for almost 20 yrs from quads, my body and mind still recall 1980's suspension and handling so I feel right at home and happy with my girl. Why would I want to ride something else without a soul and mess that up? I am an old fart and I love my banshee for who shee was, where shee has been and who shee is today. I always have...I always will. Rob

Fireroad Express
shit man , you pretty much spilled your gutz .nothing like good heartfelt drunken journalism. yep banshees are great. i always got something to tinker with and always have an excuse to buy new parts. theres nothing like hauling ass down a fireroad wideopen, hoping to hell you're going to make the next corner. with all the upgrades and performance parts available for these machines, i don't understand people that think they are old technology. to each thier own.
sandman
For me it's all about the engine. There is no other bike that has the power characteristics that a banshee has. The power characteristics is what makes this bike so much fun to ride especially in sand. As far as old technology goes, well like fireroad express says there are so many aftermarket parts for these things you can replace any of that old tech with new tech to make it just like you want. I recently went out & picked up a used 06 shee so I would have one to ride around on dirt with, simply for a diff. flavor instead of riding my 700 Raptor. Unfortunately most people don't think this way however, because I am seeing a lot less banshees everytime I go to the dunes & a lot more 4 pokes. dragbanshee98
that 2 stroke, twin cylinder scream that can only be described wih the words YAMAHA, and BANSHEE... i am yet to ride another wheeler that lights the fire in my heart like this one does... there will always be a banshee in my garage till the day i die, and even then if its possible i will be creamated and mixed in with alchohol and fed through a cub motor

Rob What is there not to love about the banshee. Its got everything, power, speed, looks, the sound, the smell of 2stroke and the adrenalin when you ride it and everywhere you go the people still come and check out your shee. I am also an old fart 43 and one regret that i've got is that it took me to far to long before i owened one.I've got two in my garage and believe me if i had the money i would own a couple more. Banshees rock.

R. Rollins
I could give a rats ass what others think about how fast or not my Banshee's are. They (both please me). I rode one in 1987 at a dealership and swore that one day I would own one. Now in 2008 I finally did get one, then last spring I finally bought a brand new one off the showroom floor. I can never replace the smile I get when I ride the Banshees at full throttle. Im getting older and I am set in my ways. I will always have my Banshees until I keel over dead as hell. When I saw my 80 year old father ride mine full throttle and come back squeeling like a kid again, I knew that there was something special in it for me as well.
