Dome cc questions

I'm getting ready to purchase a cool head for my ride. I'm intending on running leaded 111 in it. So I would like to know without welding the stock crank how small of a dome can I run? Ideally I would like to use 17's. But I have read that the cranks need to be welded b/c its a two piece design. I usually only really ride it twice a week for more that 30 minutes. Mostly on Sundays for a few hours at a time. How long do you all think the stock crank would survive that kinda compression?

I have had good luck with 19cc domes but I have allways had a trued and welded crank if you wanna run 111 I would say just put some 18cc domes in it unless you plan on running alcohol in the future and if you do I would definatly weld it for that

where are you located? why do you want to run 17cc domes?

i would recommend sending DLNOSS here on HQ a message. he will be able to tell you what you can get away with running with your setup. he is the guy who makes NOSSheads and who you should buy a head from.

I'm located in Birmingham Alabama. It's a 64.5mm bore wiseco pro-lites, stock stroke. I want to bump the compression up high enough to make some good power and i don't mind having to run race gas in it. I was gonna buy a head from Jeff @ F.A.S.T they are made by Noss.

If you're not going to true it and weld it, I wouldn't go any smaller than 20cc's. With 20's, you could run 50/50 93/110 and be plenty safe. You don't gain power simply by using higher octane fuel. Higher compression makes a little more lowend torque, but you typically lose redline RPM's.

Guessing you aren't much above sea level, I'd say 19cc domes. That's usually my recommendation for a stock crank at or around sea level. The difference you will notice between 19cc and 18cc wouldn't be worth the increased risk,,,,,,to me anyway.
