Recommended Posts

Hi I"m looking to buy some lectrons carbs online at http://www.lectronfuelsystems.com/... I'm just wondering if this is the real official lectron website .... looks like a very low budget\amateur website and I don't want to send 1000$ over to someone that just buildup a fake website or something like that ....

maybe some of you have already deal with them ??

Without a doubt, Packard is the man.

I don't think Lectron sells direct to the public, they sell through two main distributors that I know of, Packard Racing and Fast By Gast.

Dennis Packard and his family are deep into this sport, I would call them.

My Lectrons were setup by them, and I honestly couldn't be happier with them.

rubberneck is 100% spot on. That needle is key, it gets confusing...and once you're confused frustration can set in.

I can tell you mine are setup damn near perfect...are easy to tune, etc.

There are a couple of posts on here about pros/cons of Lectrons vs. Keihin or Mikunis that would probably benefit you as well.

I emailed Lectron direct a while ago about being a distributor for them, I think they're in Michigan local to me...never got back to me....

just a question ive always wondered ( sorry off topic kinda), are lectrons usually really expensive because they are like the best brand for carbs? or they have something special that other carbs dont?

cause the name is just sick :P "lectron" sounds as if they must be really good.. :P

This is strictly my opinion...and other Lectron users feel free to jump in...

Three reasons you really don't see them as much.

1. Price...because there not as many around, and there are only two distributors and they don't produce as many, they are EXPENSIVE.

2. To go hand in hand with number 1, Mikuni and Keihin carbs are more than plentiful and cheap...so, everyone has a comfort zone, these two work, work well....and are very affordable

3. Different. They are easier to tune, but different. There's a needle that threads in and out to richen or lean off idle to mid, then an external power jet for 3/4 to WOT. No mains, no pilots or air screws. That throws some people off.

As said, the absolute key to getting the right tune is the needle. The right person (Dennis Packard) can get you the right needle.

If you have the wrong one, you can tune till you're blue in the face and it just won't work. Once you have the right needle, they are not NEARLY as finicky with temp changes, altitude changes, etc.

You can change them from gas to alky by changing the needle, and you can change them to gravity fed or fuel pump with a simple needle and seat change.

I like them, they work great for me...and I run methanol. Meth is traditionally more finicky....and these carbs make tuning a breeze.

Hope this helps...
