poorboystoys
ok im going to ask some questions about av gas because im interested in getting another banshee and building a strictly drag bike. i know theres been other threads about this but there are not well organized and too many people disagreeing. things i would like to know is what octane is av gas ive heard that it builds up gunk on four stroke motors valves but is there anything that i should worry about on a 2 stroke motor. also anything else you might want me to know about av gas before making my decision thanks in advance
spike
Like you said poeple will always disagree about it but i've ran it strait for years and never had any problem at all. It does leave a little amount of deposits on the plug, I assume its lead because of the real high lead content. nothing to hurt anything as long as you switch your plug a couple time a years. never fouled a plug on it though... I've seen a lot of disagreement about its octane rating also. but if you get your motor built to run on 100 octane you willl be fine. I run 170 psi comp and +8 timing advance. never had any kind of preignition.

dajogejr
It's just one of those things that's hard to get a straight answer, kinda like why you drive a Chevy, Ford or Dodge... I've never personally ran it, but a few people who's experience and knowledge I respect have had no issues with it. No one person can try it all, so you lean on those whom you know and trust.... I've been running it my camaro for 7 or 8 years with no problems. Also ran it in my Banshee and KFX 700. Works for me. Less then half the price of race fuel. brian
I don't use it personally either, but I do know guys that do and they are happy with it. One of the biggest arguments against it is that it is meant to run at 10k plus altitude. I could not disagree more on that argument. The largest power demand on an airplane engine is on takeoff and, as we all know, that happens on the ground !!
Profilact
Yeah I run AV gas as opposed to C-12 strictly for the cost. 180 lbs compression and +4 timing - no problems.
