black sunshine
One thing about being in the snowbelt is the feeling of that first ride of the year, always feels like twice as much bike as you remembered!! Extra mods help, though.
RagunCajun
That's kinda ironic. You first said pipes and filters are enough then you mention getting a coolhead. Yup, the modbug bit. And +1 on the warming up the bike thing.

And +1 on the warming up the bike thing. I always let my bike idle for a few minutes before puttin around the yard, now on the other hand my buddy had a stroked 250r and just jumped on and took off :ermm:
Overboost
I wont even drive a car without letting it run for a few. I just mentioned that because before I rejetted it, it would not run for squat until it was fully warmed. it is runnable after 10 seconds, I have to let it run for a minute or 2 before I "get on it" it ran for around 5 min before I rode it yesterday, I was setting idle and checking how it would react when you bumped the gas a few times, just the norm when you just installed some new toys. and the cool head, I would do that regardless, it loves to over heat in the dunes. I had coolant dripping over my pipes from the radiator last year, not doing that again. and I may....give it....a bit more compression..... just a thought. SandRageShee
how hot was it when you was riding dunes? my bike doesnt over heat when im riding dunes in 85+ degree weather and i need to go up some on my pilot it tends to spit just a little on the skid plate when trail riding.. Fireroad Express
just put pro circuit platinum pipes and KN pods on today. bike was bone, utter stock right down to the tors. fires right up, first kick, no choke or nothing, rode it across my yard, expecting what it did last year when it was stock and holy FUCK... I cant keep the front wheels on the ground in first gear, never got into second and it just rips and tears. I dont know what you people are thinking when you think that pipes and filters are not enough, it scared the living shit out of me. almost scared to take it on the trails now, if it is going to do that all day, I was on grass but so what. sand and dirt wont be as bad but what about the dunes. whoa...... I knew it would make a difference but not THAT kind of difference. and I still have a 15 tooth sprocket on it, I was going to do a 13, not now.... so now what, do I need a swing arm to keep it from popping wheelies all day? Hey man, if your banshee doesnt scare you, its too damn slow!!!!!!

camatv
wow havent heard merkur in a LONG time got any pics of that car. i had a few a LONG time ago fun car and easy to work on wish they would have made a few more of them.. ( its a german? built 2 door coupe with the 4 cylinder ford turbo charged motor in it) lot like the supercharged thunderbird BUT it has different cam and a few other things and was 210hp stock wayyy back. and the car itself was a lot better quality and comfy than the ole birdwagon. i bet 450 isnt out of the question.. mine was a 5 speed.. Overboost
only problem is even though it was rated at 210 with the intercooler, they still ran a mid/high 15 second quarter. I guess not too bad back in 86ish area, but even when built, not very impressive. good thing is that 2.3 motor is bullet proof. hard to kill them, tough motor. Keyser Soze
Dont get a cool head, have your stock head milled. Take the money you would spend on on a cool head...add another $100..get it ported. Edited March 30, 2009 by jugriggs
