axel bearings?

Recommended Posts

about a month ago i had new axel bearings put in, and it seems like in no time the rear has some play in it!! when i pick up the bike and wiggle there is a knocking and i can see some space on the right side of the axel, by the brakes...is less than a month typical wear time for bearings? or should i go back up to yamaha and THROW SOME BOWS!!! hahaha thebearing were SHOT the last time and fused on to the axel, i want to change them myself this time, before it gets too bad.. any tips to extended bearing life? typically im riding 2 hours a day, so shes not building up any dust, and im on pavement a nice bit, i guess thats y ehhhhh???

more then likely you have either put them in wrong, pressed on them in the wrong spot when you installed them. didnt pack them with grease or your swing arm is tweaked putting extra stress on them. or baught shitty grade bearings.

please tell us how you installed the bearings into your swing arm.

i didnt put them in myself, but i watched the "well quailfied" yamaha mechanic do it...i cant rag on them too bad, because i had run the bearing so bad that they had fused onto the axel and the rear sprocket was wearing at the rear end...but they removed the axel with a sledge hammer, and im sure they were the shittiest of quality bearings....the right side of my axel may be bent slightly, i noticed a wobble in the right rear..all the same i might go up to yamaha and ask them for new bearings on the HOUSE!!!

i dont have a wrench big enough to tighten them :( ill have to wait till tomorrow and go on the hunt for one!! thanks

if you arnt worried about scoring them up,,, just use a pipe wrench , you can get them very tight like that

also throw a wavy washer )dont know what else to call it) inbetween them, mine always used to come loose half way through the day untill my friend gave me one to put in
