cub motor

Recommended Posts

Ok I have heard alot about these cub motors. I want to know a few things about them, Like what makes them soo expensive, Can you swap them out on a stock motor or do you need to do tranny work, And are they good for field ripping?? Thats what i ride all the time. And i was just wondering what they do..

Expensive compared to what? The initial cost of the cylinders isn't bad. They would probably be pretty good for open riding. You can get a cub in a 392 wich is a stock stroke but with 68mm bore so it will bolt right on. No tranny work is "needed" but.. it would be better to have some done to help shifting under power.

well you could but i have rode a cub and its one hell of a ride... it was sheeriders and that bike will scream... as far as the differences in them is the hellacious port job done on the cub motor... it is absolutely hogged out... they are a strong running bike on top end but if you like to have bottom end power then a stock stroke cheetah cub might not be your cup of tea...

I was just looking into getting more power without selling my left nut you know. all i ride is open fields so i dont need anything to expensive.

I'd recommend you call a reputable builder and get her ported.

When I had my stock cylinder Banshee ported ($250 job), she would up and walk away from piped 450's pretty bad.

Only mods were Pro Circuit pipes, filter, and the port job.

I'd say get the cub if you plan on getting serious about dragging, though.
