thinking about selling my banshee

Recommended Posts

i dont know man.. im no mechanic.. but something tells me if it has bad crank bearings.. there has to be SOMETHING else thats bad... i just cant see a bike being 100% perfect, other than bad crank bearings.. if he hasnt split the cases yet how does he know something else isnt wrong in there?

this is also true

My bad, I misunderstood. Seems a little steep for a non running bike. How well do you know him to say that is all that is wrong with it?

i have known him for a few years and riden with him. he is basicly my neighbor. and he deff does not ride hard lol. it has been taken care of and i kno it was parked right after it started making noises

I feel your pain on breaking shit and getting tierd of it. But you do not want to go from one basket bike to the next.

I would save my duckets, re-build my own bike the way you want it. Fact is, that is exactly what I did over the winter. You already have a jump on it and replaced a bunch of shit over the past year.

problems can only be multiplied with a 4 stroke, more moving parts, more technology = MUCH more things to go wrong!

im not bashing 4 strokes, but if you are selling the 2 stroke to get a 4 stroke from only a maintenance standpoint, your bill is gona be twice as much fixing the 4 stroke, and things go wrong on them and break just like a 2 stroke, only difference is when the 4 stroke needs rebuilt or breakes, its gona cost alot more than the banshee. but if you want a 4 stroke because of the type of power they provide, then by all means do it... but dont sell the banshee eand get a 4 stroke thinkin they are maintenance free like the idiots on youtube think

i kno they all brake and a 4stroke does cost more to rebuild but, i they are less likely to break IMO. also i do live in pa and ride alot of trails and mx so maybe i should just save for a yfz idk what im going to do but i dont wanna give up on banshee i love them dont get me wrong but im just thinking mine is beat and needs alot. .... i think im going to try and buy a new 4stroke and keep the banshee and do a ground up build... u guys are so good at changing my mind!!!

New crank bearings means new crank! Rod ends are shot. Needs rods and bearings, the works. Bet on it. Just trying to help

Hell yea:

Keep what ya got and strip her down to the bone.

Fix all that is broken.

All these suggestiona are good.

Listen to them all.

I believe that you are hinting that you hate mechanic work on the Banshee.

It is a true passion of love.

Why are you hating your bike.

Patience of the passion for the love of the Banshee work that you do yourself is far more rewarding that buying someone elses crap and trying to fix thier junk.

I bet that if you stripped her down to the frame and powdercoated it....thats all you would need to re-motivate you.

You would have the engine out and easier to detail it... You would stare at it for a while then you would finally open your clymer manual and buy the needed engine parts to perform the heart surgery.

Dont worry, we are all here to motivate you on down the line..

just DO IT!

Get your money saved up and buy the gaskets, clutch parts and other odds and ends.

A good high speed rotational car polisher will make those old fenders like new again.

HA, you think yours is bad? When I got mine it was junk. Hence my screen name. Talk about wondering if a motor will run, mine was in peices, didnt even know if it was all there. It was about 5 different colors and FAR more peices. I spent 6 months just to get it put back together and running. Then, on its maiden voyage it threw a crank bearing. A Hot Rod crank, new rings on the bad side, and 3 months later, like a Phoenix from the ashes, it rose again. Yup it is almost brand new now haha. Now that I have been through it, I wouldnt have done it any other way. I built it how I wanted it from the frame up. Just snapped my axel a few days ago so yeah, it never ends. But it just gives me an excuse to make it better. I live in PA also and I love how all the four stroke guys talk about my bike. Most dont want no part of the banshee and those who do get roosted.

A new tusk clutch is about $40. You can clean your pipes and get them looking decent. Or buy used ones for cheap. There's always good deals around here on used pipes. And yo can find some cheaper used plastics. Less hassle if you ask me than buying someone else's bike.
