Wow loco you must have a shitload of time on your hands. Not trying to start shit but every time I see a post that MIGHT be questionable you jump in and set everyone straight. It's just funny that you have to act aggressive in a conversation thats just based on personal preference or opinion. Whatever though your not gonna change and I guess thats how this site stays running...somehow

Good job TJ. as for Loco dont mind him. hes actual a good dude. see, him and i would battle it out all the time. i would fuck with him just for laughs but hes ok. i`m guessing he needs a new battle partner. i didnt read all the posts but heat cycles are good and to re torque the head and cylinders. i also dont use a torque wrench.

the debate is whether or not torquing your head is necessary or not. i say its not, he says it is, because after 20 years the head might warp.. i fail to see the point he is trying to make.

i just swapped out my stock 87 head for a cool head last year

you must have been torquing it the whole time, because surely without torquing it, it wouldve warped.

his point are invalid. they dont make sense. never mind the issue of torquing or not torquing.

his personal preference is fine. he can go on torquing heads all day long. its his example that is complete and utter dog shit. and no matter how much he polishes it so that i can understand, its still dog shit.

and yes, i keep shit running smooth around here. im entitled to speak my mind for dealing with you fools all the time!

like i said, im done trying to explain this, if somebody else understands what im saying please explain.

i will repeat this one more time... torque specs are to make sure you get the proper amount of torque on each nut and GET THEM ALL THE SAME! if you do not get them all the same drastically the head will begin to warp.

if you do not torque them all the same, but only by 5 foot lbs or so it can take up to 20 years for it to warp. you may have warped a head and not know it, you cannot tell just by looking at it.

i am making sense, you are just not understanding it. whether im not doing a good job of explaining myself or you just dont get it i know i am making sense.

i understand that. thats fine. i dont use a torque wrench. havent for along time. no problems to speak of.

youve got proof of this? i would like to see.

so youre saying, that if i dont torque my head, it could take 20 years for it to warp enough for me to notice?? have you researched this? ive never heard of a head warping.

the clymer manual eh? ive got one. havent opened it in 5 years. havent had a stock head since before then.

just because the clymer says it could happen, doesnt mean it will frequently.

you act as if the head warping is a common occurrence that happens every 20 YEARS..

well it may have been implied that way, but no. i was not calling it a common occourence.

man loco i gotta give you props. you've successfully argued about motor break in, and torque specs in one thread. now if we could somehow incorporate 2 stroke oil and ratios into this thread we would really have it covered. nice work tj. seems like you know your stuff for only 15. cant go by everything you read in manuals tho, they want you to take every precaution possible. whether its necessary or not.

i dont use torque wrenches on quads either. i also have a 89 shee with stock head

RodneyA - correct sir! well partially, not having heads torqued down and excessive heat will allow the head room to tweak!!!

I think loco's head is warped......hahahah man you can argue about a half empty glass..... so which is it? haha
