TJScott
i dont torque mine either. the one time i did, the fuckin thing leaked. i havent torqued a head since 2001. i must have an amazing internal torquer then, because ive NEVER torqued anything on the clutch and havent on the head for many years. ive never had an issue. it takes decades for you head to actually warp usually, besides, just because you never had any trouble doesnt speak for anybody else. 278
When I talk to some older mechanics like 50's or 60's they always say the same thing, they never used torque wrenches... I never do either and never had a problem on my bike or anyone else's
TJScott
it takes decades huh?? yes, some of the older banshees are 20 years old and their heads could be warping. if you get them all close to the same youll be alright, but some people are just retards and thats why we have torque specs. Ieat4strokes
my opinion..... break it in like your gonna ride it..... ever had a vehicle thats been babied all its life, take it out and smash the pedal through the floorboard? and it breaks.... i dunno its just me but i dont think proper break ins by the book affect engine life as much as proper routine maintenance and fresh oil....dont even wait till ya oil gets black, i change mine every couple of outings, well under scheduled intervals in my cars and motorcycles..... did i say fresh oil? i think that helps more than anything as far as engine life goes.... as far as ring seating? i heard and have always been told a few cycles of going through the gears and using the engine to brake instead of the brakes is plently. but at the end of the day its urs.... do what u want and most of all....enjoy! TJScott
well the whole purpose of the break-in procedure is to seat the rings against the cylinders. if you dont follow the procedure your rings may not correctly seat.

R. Rollins
I would think that after just a few miles down the road the rings should be seated in good enough. Just have a good time and dont worry about it. Give her that first oil change after 6 hours of riding and the bike should be just fine. Keep the chain clean, the tank filled, the oil changed and your friends in your dust behind ya. lol

xXBlessedWithDeathXx
Good job TJ. as for Loco dont mind him. hes actual a good dude. see, him and i would battle it out all the time. i would fuck with him just for laughs but hes ok. i`m guessing he needs a new battle partner. i didnt read all the posts but heat cycles are good and to re torque the head and cylinders. i also dont use a torque wrench.
