DallasGDub Posted March 14, 2009 Report Share Posted March 14, 2009 IMO Plastic absorbs the shock. Billet acts an extension of the case itself and sends the shock of a chain whack into the case. sheerider1026 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Share Posted March 14, 2009 think about it this way.. your cases are CAST aluminum.. a BILLET case saver is tronger than the cast aluminum... so which will break first????? the PLASTIC saver is the only way to go.. plus since they are plastic they bend a lot before they break.. so chances are if you throw a chain, all u need to do is put it back on and adjust.. locogato11283 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Share Posted March 15, 2009 remember this.. running the biggest sprocket you can up front will close up the space between the chain and the case saver. i think in most cases, its the "balling" action of the chain that breaks the cases. if there is no room to ball up, in case of a thrown chain, it should just eject it instead of tearing something up.
