official_style
So I started trying to tune one of my shees today, since it was warm out, this is my first time doing it. The bike is stock internally, and has t5s, pods, +4 timing, 310 jets, and the long dynojet needles on the 4th clip. I got the idle set good, and the carbs are synced with my sync tool. Air screws are 1.5 out. When driving, the bike is ok right off idle, but bogs if you give it a lot of gas, then takes off. If you rev it up high, it also seems to be backfiring slightly. This seems like it is too rich correct? Now do I need to adjust the needles or the air screws?
sredish
play with the needle. raise it and see if it helps, if not, then lower it. also, maybe try a 300 main. Edited March 7, 2009 by sredish
official_style
i am going to try one notch leaner, are the airscrews still fine at 1.5 turns?
official_style
Its better with the needle up a notch, but still bogging and backfiring slightly at 3/4 - full throttle. Try a 300 or go leaner??
sleeper06
I dont think I would go much leaner where we are with that set-up,can u get a plug chop off where you are,if not im in nassau and its a go over here on weekends
official_style
i dont really have anywhere i could run it all out, i keep the bikes in westchester. if i cant get it running well before it gets warmer, i will just trailer them out to the island, where do you run them? i thought LI was locked down as far as quads go. it seems better with the 300 and on the 3rd clip, im still having a problem with it bogging at low throttle. sredish
backfiring is typically a symptom of leanness, not always but a lot of times. go richer on the needle, 4th clip, first and see if it helps. u sound lean to me.
MarineNYC
Guys you dont think that he should be bigger on his pilot as well. Hes stock right now. I was thinking that he should be around 30 pilot/ 300-310 main/ center clip.

( very slow), then randomly quickly gas it full and then quickly let go.. and then it makes a deep bog noise. if thats your case, and you are running 25 pilots and 1.5 turns out on airscrew.. thats your problem. i also have same mods as you.. and when i turned my airscrew in.. it became SO much better.. eventually i got it to only 1/2 a turn out. try turning it in 3/4 in or atleast 1/2 turn more in. see if it makes it better, if so, go more deep in. put back your old main and clip if it was running better at top. your low end thing is your AIR SCREW guarantee.. as much as i dont know shit im sure about this one.. i had the same problem.. tighten that air screw alot Edited March 10, 2009 by blaster2006

official_style
is the "choke trick" effective at all to check your jetting? i was reading about it in this banshee tuning faq i found.
AKheathen
for now, put your shorter needle back in, and drop it all the way lean. it won't have as much power as 27.5+ longer needle, on the low end, but it should run better. or did you already get the 27.5's? official_style
i got the 27.5s, i am going to put them in today. stay with the longer needle? i was going to totally start over now, 310 mains, needle on the 4th clip from blunt end, and 1.5 out on the screws and try and adjust from there. MarineNYC
Are you starting higher on the clip because its longer?
