BlasterKX Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 anyone have good luck with these in a bigger grain of sand like gravel pit sand? i think mine are to big and hook up to much for my stock gearing.lol was just looking into different tires and seen alot of people use em. lmk Thanks Quote
BansheeRider87 Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 i had them and loved them. They were about 50% and still hooked up like new Quote
Michael Jackson Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 they are the heaviest of that style tire, and pretty expensive too, but they are very tough for thr trails, last a long time and hook up pretty decent, like any tire with that design though, they dont hook up that well in real loose stuff like sand or gravel, and they slide a bit on hard pack because of their hard compound and close spacing, they are a pretty good all around tire though Quote
t6shee Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 i also run them. they tend to dig quick in soft sand with stock gearing . went up a tooth in the front to gain more power on the top end and it actually improved the take off in sand. Quote
F.T.W. Banshee Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 I run them and they hook up great for me on the trails. I also run on alot of roads. They are pretty expensive and heavy but you dont have to replace them all the time like some other tires out there. I dont know about sand as I dont have any by me. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 those things are junk in anything loose. Quote
dave5.0 Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 (edited) Just ran my new set of iRazrs in that peagravel sand at the Badlands today. Couldn't have been more happy with them. I could do a donut in the big river rock and come out of it in a wheelie. I could also wheelie up the sand hills with them. Nothing like paddles but very impressed. They are also 6 ply and a radial. Might look into those also. Edited March 8, 2009 by dave5.0 Quote
BlasterKX Posted March 8, 2009 Author Report Posted March 8, 2009 well the ones i got now are Kenda Rampages. old school i know. but there 22s and in the sand i ride in they hook up nice enough to where i can feather it in 2nd with the clutch pulled in and dump it and shoot up and hill about 80-85 feet tall and sometimes pull the front wheels up. but im looking for a tire thats not going to be as tall but i dont want to suffer the hook up. but yet still want a lil bit on spin if that makes sense? dave5.0 Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 (edited) Something with a good knob and an open pattern. Like the iRazr, Duro Hookup, or maybe some of the stock dunlops off YFZs and Z400s. The Ohtsus off 400EXs and 250rs would probalby work decent too. I was looking for something jst like you are asking about when I bought the iRazrs. Those were all ones I looked at. RagunCajun Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 What about a good tire that hooks up on dirt roads with grass here and there. I had kenda knarlys w/ every other row cut off and i spun my ass off. Perhaps it was due to my small 19" tires in the front. Opinions welcome. Quote
flotek Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 ohtsu 501 htrack 400ex tire has the perfect spacing lug depth and rubber compound to hook up hard in almost any terrain ,they are the dirt racers favorite for a reason Quote

Same thing I said before. I've been running Holeshots before, these iRazrs hook better than those ever thought of in the grass. Hard to keep the front down. I also went from a 18" rear to a 20". The taller the tire the better traction you get. I've ran 4snows in the grass before and just blew them off. These iRazrs just hooked and went. My buddy just put on a full set of Dunlops like off a Z400 this weekend. He loves them. They hook up really well too. Quote

BlasterKX Posted March 8, 2009 Author Report Posted March 8, 2009 i was able to finally get my gearing down without all the chain slack now so i think il keep my massive tires.lol they hook up really nice Quote

Not sure on the pressure. I really think it's due to my small tires in the front(19's). It makes it hard to transfer weight. Quote
