timing plate question

Recommended Posts

as the title states is there so much as to much timing. I was wondering if yall think that running plus 5 degrees on the timing is to much for a stock head? Yes i do have the spacer gasket to run the stroker crank. Im running VP but i have to switch to pump gas with amsoil ocatne boost casue my fuel supplier quit carrying the stuff. Do i need to back off on the timing or what?

I don't really have a good answer but I ran mine at +7 for awhile with the stock head then went to a Coolhead. I liked it at +7 quite a bit, but you shouldn't have trouble at +5.

Also, that Amsoil octane boost isn't much of an octane boost... and with pump fuel, it's not going to do much for ya. Linked below is THE best octane boost, and it's a true octane booster. With 1 quart, you can turn 4 gallons of pump (92 or 93) into 100 octane. A quart costs $20 and when I bought race the other day it was $7.25, so it's cheaper than buying true race gas anyways.

So many things change it. You need to know your compression ratio, current air temp, elevation, and timing to get your octane needs.

Stock head volume is 22cc

Stock piston volume is -1.2 (I think)

Stock bore is 2.51969"

Stock stroke is 2.12598"

+4 stroke is 2.28346"

Stock deck clearance is 0

Elevation Finder

Metric Conversion

Compression Calculator

Find out all these things, and I'll let you know what timing you can run with 93 octane.
