banshee_terror_
if you have an impact wrench you can spin it right off pretty easily. if you don't have that or a tool, you can stick a rag in between the gears to lock them up enough to break the nut loose. i wouldn't use anything hard to try to hold the gears, a rag should do the trick. that's how i hold it to tighten it back up again also. make sure you bend the tab back on the lockwasher that is behind it before trying to loosen it. don't be offended bud, i've seen people struggle to loosen it and they didn't bend the tab off of the nut. it's just a helpful tip. yah i know thanks but my gears are not spinning the center hub is spinning inside the bansket when i go and try and take my nut off. swrbansheeboy
the trick i learned a long time ago is if you have an old set of clutches take one of the steels and one of the fibers and screw them together. it makes a cheep clutch hub holder tool. insert the tool into the clutch basket and inner hub then either hold the clutch basket with your hand (a gloved hand is best) or jam a penny between the drive gears on the basket and crank... i've also stuffed a rag in between the inner and outer hub/ put on a good thick glove and held the inner hub while i took a rattle gun to the inner hub nut... just dont try and put anything between the fingers on the basket and the inner hub, it's a sure fire way to bust a finger off of the clutch basket... good luck...
