I have a few questions about adjustable timing plates.

1. I understand they have something to do with timing but what exactly do they do? Performance wise...

2. What kind of mods should I think about before I purchase the timing plate?

3. What's the difference between the degree key and the adj. timing plate?

I did a search to see if I could find what I was looking for but couldn't come up with what I wanted.....If there is a similar post ...point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!

BTW..The only mods I have currently are FMF fatty's, PC2 silencer and a K&N air filter w/ vented air box lid.

1. you will notice a "seat of the pants" difference, especially down low. With your mods, keep it at +4 maximum. Depending on your compression (16olbs or less), you will be fine to still run 93 octane fuel.

2. I would get your head milled to raise the compression higher than stock, to take full advantage of the timing mod.

3. The degree key is the cheap way out, and Ive heard of them shearinhg. Just get the plate and be done with it! Good luck!

This mod will take about an hour of your time, the first time. Get a flywheel puller, and take your time. Youll be fine. Dont forget to setu your pickup gap properly when u put it back together!

PINNED I pretty much have the same mods as yours. Fatties, V-Force, Pro Design cage and a K&N.

If you happen to install it, let me know how it works out Thanks. Now that I know that there is a big increase, I'll most likely advancing it.

Hey guys I'm thinking about doing it too, but you all say to make sure to use 93 octane. I was wondering if would be ok to run 91 octane since gas stations in my area don't carry anything higher than 91?
