stock crank

O.k I searched around but had no luck in finding an answer. I'm putting drag ported cylinders, with boost ports, at stock bore, on my bike. Is it nesessary to have my stock crank welded, or will it handle my little mods? I mainly drag on the highway, with a little flat trackin.

Planned mods,

drag ported cyl. (with boost ports)

cool head w 19 cc domes

vf3 reeds

+ 6 timing ( im using 114 race gas)

Also are my carbs gonna be big enough or should I just get a set of 35mm pwks?

I know I should do it, but if I'm gonna got through the trouble to take the crank out, I might as well put a stroker in. Just don't have the funds to do all at the same time, with riding weather approaching I'd like to get it ready as soon as I can. Hopefully by next winter I'll be able to put that stroker in it. I'm not really looking for a blessing, but some reasurance that it's not gonna blow sky, high would be nice.

There is no assurance that anyone can give you. People true and weld them because they do come apart. Knowing that they can separate when not welded is knowing that you will be taking a chance if you don't weld it. If you don't have the money to do it right you sure don't have the money to do it twice.

So you don't have the money for a 4mil crank. Just split the cases and weld your stock crank. Should be able to do it for around $50. Check and or replace seals ($40). Now, next year when you want to build your 4mil you'll have a good welded crank that you can likely still sell. Much cheaper this way then to have your webs separate and possibly ruin your cases or worse.
