dragbanshee
I did not know that, I wouldn't make it during the week. Must be a mistake, right?
JasonsBanshee
Shoot, yea it's May 16th and 17th. Sorry about that guys! I can call Haspin to see if we can reserve the track and get the lowdown on how that will all work.
Keyser Soze
They may not be cool with us drag racing for money..but what they dont know wont hurt them. I also think we should open the dragging up to non-hqers if others are interested....the more the better just let them know they have to $ up. We should check in and see if they would give us a group discount since we will have at least 15+ people for two days. JasonsBanshee
Yes, I'm working on getting the topic's dates fixed. Sorry about that guys! Everyone should try to get donations to sell at the ride. I'm going to send a few emails out explaining the situation and the cause. I'll probably include a link to this thread. Together we can do this guys, but we all need to do our parts. Send emails out, talk to local shops. We do need someone to have ownership of the drag races. If someone wants to take it one step further, contact Wolfe Bros, they can set it all up and even have the lights and all that stuff. Their site is www.wolfebros.com They've put on races there in the past. If we can get them involved and on board with the benefit then they could draw in a lot of racers. But the key is that this must remain a benefit and not an event to fatten their pockets. This race is a race to help a fellow HQ member and his family out. If we can get enough donations we could have a silent auction. If we can get enough items, we can bring the stuff to the benefit ride to raffle off. I've done this in the past for my Wife's uncle and we raised $5,000. We wrote information about the item on a brown lunch bag. We sold raffle tickets and if you wanted a chance at winning that item you put raffle ticket(s) in the bag. At the end of the benefit we drew one ticket from each bag and whoever had the matching number on their ticket wins the item. The only way we could pull something like this off is to get a lot of donations. We could do the auction all day and draw Saturday night. Some items I'd like to get subscription to Dirtwheels T shirts gift cards to places like Rocky Mountain ATV stickers of any kind gear you get the point.... run
JasonsBanshee; Once you talk to those businesses and etc, let me know so we can kinda put together a list of who is doing what, who is committed to the cause and what members as well. That way we have everything in order and it can go smoothly. So far: Events (for sure) 1. Donation Jar - Will be placed at my truck and people can put in whatever they can spare or want to give. Since we're at Haspin, it will be locked. 2. Drag Shootout - $20 Entry (1/2 Payout top 4 and 1/2 to benefit) 3. Split the Pot - $2 per ticket (1/2 to winner 1/2 to benefit) 4. Lunch Plate - NO COST HQ members are all bringing different items (food, grill, drinks, meat, chips) Events: (possibles) Once we get conformation on these events, I will update the list to FOR SURE events 1. Raffle for items (100% to the cause) (sherips87 said he is donating metal work items, and whatever we get from businesses) 2. Timed Track Shootout - $20 entry fee 1/2 payout, 1/2 to benefit) 3. Silent Auction/Raffle - (pending donations from businesses) Some items we'd like to get: Subscription to Dirtwheels T shirts Gift cards to places like Rocky Mountain ATV, etc.. Stickers of any kind Gear Here is the food list, member coming list, and the committed to the cause list. If you want to participate, just post in here!! It's all starting to come together guys!! 1. Keyser Soze
I think we should do a two laps timed around the orange trail. $20 to enter 1/2 pay out. That would be good for us that have shee's built for trails, and dont ride Mx.
