Banshee won't run..

Hey guys, i'm an avid reader of HQ, just never have any input worth it lol. My 02 Banshee wouldn't kick start a couple weeks ago, so i sucessfully push started it. I tried it again about a week ago with no luck. It acts like it's not getting any gas, but my lines are clear. Any suggestions? sorry for the vague description, i don't have much knowledge regarding quads. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

generally speaking if you have an 02 banshee and it will only pull start and run fine after its pulled, and wont kick start id say you have low compression, its time for a rebuild. if its all original that motor is 7 years old on stock crank and stock pistons w/ rings, its probably over due for a rebuild. buy a compression guage from your local auto part store, hook it up and kick it over till your foot is kinda tired and the needle stops moving and tell us what PSI you have. do this first since all you have to remove is your spark plug.

I dont know about these other guys but I am no money bags.

I have to do things on the budget.

If I were to offer plain simple suggestions I would say after a through checking of your fuel, spark and ignition system, I would simply take off both carbs, clean them to perfection, replace them, and syncronize them according to the manual, or according to the new banshee video here on BansheeHQ. Id then try and start her up.

Fresh gas and oil mixture at 40: 1 ratio

Clean air filter

Check the throttle for proper tension at the carbs.

If this doesnt work then I would possibly look into cylinder pressures etc.

Note: following the steps here on that BansheeHQ video and the purchase of the little carb sync tool was well given advise here on the HQ. :

Word.........if you can push start it and it runs fine, check your compression before you waste your time on everything else. Then while your rebuilding the top end you can clean your carbs and change your plugs. Works better in that order. Let us know how your compression test goes.
