225GUY
Well the banshee stoped shifting this weekend and we narrowed it down to where the clutch rod enters the case. Needless to say we had to pull the whole motor and split the cases. I found the rod broken, the ball bearing shredded, and the clutch plates burnt. Also I found the pistons had 9 thousands of clearance and the pistons burnt also. SO since I have the motor out, I figured I might as well do all I can for performance. -New clutches -Major cylinder head port work -Milling the stock head -Timing advance plate -Boring cylinders out and new weisco pistons -All new seals and gaskets Any other suggestions? I was actually happy for this to break...:-) Now I get to mod it out lol
bbcmudtruck
You should go ahead and put in a pancake bearing while your replacing your clutch rod and ball. Also check your clutch hub and pressure plate. They are only $20-$25 bucks to replace. Do you have a Pro Design billet impeller yet? What are you running for pipes? Have you picked a builder yet? 225GUY
I am replacing those clutch parts also. We are building here, a friend of mine has an engine shop locally and has done quite a few banshees in his day. No i don't have a billet impeller yet. sleeper06
My advise is do some research on builders you can find many good ones on this .You can see from my sig who I chose.I like doing everything myself but just in parts knowledge alone its worth getting everything from one guy so everything meshes well.Im not going to turn this into a builder blowing war . Just dont jump into anything find the guy who catches your ear on the phone.Good luck !!!
225GUY
So besides the arguement of who does it.... what else would anyone recommend while im working on it? Reeds? Sprockets? Anything at all?
sleeper06
How much are you looking to spend is key
225GUY
I dont really mind spending a lot of money on it. I just dont want to go as extreme as a stroker kit.
banshee_terror_
it depends on what you want reliability or speed. for reliability id go with a long rod kit. trued and weld the crank. get the billet impeller. thats just a few and for speed you could get your cases port matched. reed spacers. i have 28 pwk's those are carb's by the way. work great. v-force 3 reeds. 15 tooth front sprocket. and for pistons allot of people get wiseco's and i mean allot of people. but it all depends on what you want to set your bike up for. 225GUY
What does the billet impeller do for me and also what does the 15 tooth front sprocket do for me?
quikshee
What does the billet impeller do for me and also what does the 15 tooth front sprocket do for me? The stock water pump is plastic and can break, causing your shee to overheat and burn up. The billet is a thousand times stronger and is extra insurance. I'd suggest the Pro Design.. The 15 tooth will give you more top end speed and you won't have to shift as much, but you will be a bit slower accelerating.
225GUY
So installing a 15 tooth front sprocket with all the other mods would be a good idea?
SonOfSand
Do you have the shift star mod?
225GUY
No?
SonOfSand
I plan on doing it to mine, supposed to make shifting easier. Go to fastracing website, you can buy a new one there or modify your existing parts.
quikshee
So installing a 15 tooth front sprocket with all the other mods would be a good idea? If you want a higher top speed it is, some people like a 13 tooth to give them more oomph off the line.
