sandman
So I recently bought a like new 06 shee that was bone stock & am looking to put a set of pipes on it. I can't decide between Fattys or T6's. I've ran Fatty's before & was very pleased with the power characteristics but was very dissapointed with the quality or lack there of ( mounts not welded on straight causing broken pipe mounts, 2 pipes cracked on the expansion chamber, I could go on but won't.) The T6's I have never run but through searching on here they seem to be very comparable pipes as far as there power characteristics are concerned that being a good midrange pipe(correct me if I' wrong). I'm looking for something similar to the FMF Fatty but not made by FMF. Now I've heard that T6's are not the pipe of choice if you plan on modding however with this being my "dirt" bike I have no intentions of ever doing more than a K&N, Tors removal, & some pipes. I've done a lot of looking & searching on here the last couple of months & honestly can't decide what to get. On a sidenote I have run T5's before & they are a little to much of a high end pipe for my liking & style of riding. In a nutshell I want FMF Fatty's but don't want anything made by FMF, hence my dilema. Also on the T6's what do you guys reccomend for needle types & settings. Thanks, Chad
GrMeyer
when was it that you had the fmf pipes? because i have them and have nothing but great luck with them. the only prob i have is with the fmf springs...so ACE is the place once again. but there are some builders that should be able to shoot you in the right place in pipes. dragbanshee
I think the t6s are more of a low end pipe, I had them on my 03 and thought they were great for lightly modded bike. I would choose the t6 over the fmf anyday, yea I had the fmf too! Thats just my opinion though.
278
The T-6's are really only made for lightly modded bikes so if you plan on doing anything over a couple bolt-ons or think you may then go with the FMF's because you can do more mods with them. I've never had any problems with FMF's but I like my t-5's alot better
dave5.0
I ran a set of Pro Circuts for about 6 years after a set of FMF Fattys. I had good luck with both. I liked the sound from the Pro Circuits better though. Very good all around pipe. You can pick up a used set for nothing also.

X2 on that, i would grap T6s if i were in your situation, get some K&N pods( or 2in1 with airbox filter), and maybe some V-force 3 reeds, and rejet. if you are at sea level, and you decide to go with the POD filters, about 300 mains would be perfect, and 1 turn out on airscrew using stock pilots would be a good starting point. (personally when i richened the clip, i felt it too rich, only needed to change my mains and richen the air screw slithgly when i got my same mods as you are wanting to get (in my sig). So did you stay with the same needle (stock) & pilot jet? I won't be able to run pods as it is a little wet here in Wash. st but would probably just remove the snorkel & maybe put in a few air box vents. I've already installed a pro design adapter & K&N filter in the box.

Sounds like you've had better luck with them than I. I ran them up to about 4 years ago & they were nothing but problems. Another prob. I had with them is one of the spring loops on the pipe was welded on to close to the head end of the pipe so you could simply take your spring & hook it with your fingers. Of course it didn't stay there for long before it fell off. It's shit like this that scares me to death to go out & buy another set.
spike
I'd go for the T-6 as well. ran them for 2 years. there where great. Even I got some engine mods done they didnt do that bad you know... even had them on drag ported cylinders for a little while. sure they never pulled like a shearer but they still worked. if you end up getting some get them strait from toomey, you can get the pipe kit that comes with 2 mains sizes (280-290) your choice of either toomey 2:1 airfilter or a inbox uni with airbox vent and a bunch of stickers
