Michael Jackson
ok, now explain why the fuckin plastic one is twice the cost as a billet alum one!?
locogato11283
maybe you shouldnt take my word, as i dont even run a case saver. my front sprocket consist of 16 and 17. pretty sure 15 is the biggest you can go with a case saver. kawiking
billet case savers have a tendency to go ahead and break your cases once the chain snaps or whatever. plastic is more absorbent than metal. the plastic will soak up more of the shock. the billet will just transfer it. true.. i think i have a modquad . i think
J.J.
The TM case saver is the one to go for no doubt. Just can't get a hold of any here in South Africa. I'm using a Modquad billet cs with a 15t front. IMO, the billet cs should be ok as long are there is no space for the chain to bunch up between the cs and the sprocket. My theory remains unproven and I like it that way, would you rather have no cs than a billet one? I also run a good quality chain with correct tension and alignment... JJ, your theory is correct. i had the same theory in a previous thread about case savers. its always best to run the biggest sprocket possible, to minimize the space between the chain and case saver. eliminating the "balling up" effect of the chain will help to eject it cleanly as opposed to it tearing the shit out of everything. i run NO case saver and i can safely say i would run nothing over a billet one, but thats me. if i was able to run a case saver, it would be plastic. my front sprockets are just too big for me to run one. Meat
I's say part of the job of a case saver is to absorb some shock'age, but another job and perhaps more importantly is they fill the gap between your sprocket and case to prevent the chain from balling up.
