smokd
I HAVE AN 03 BANSHEE THAT HAS ALL STOCK GUTS. WAS RIDING IT AND TRIED TO SHIFT DOWN TO CLIMB A HILL AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT DOWN. I CAN MOVE THE SHIFTER UP AND THEN DOWN. IT WILL NOT CHANGE GEARS. IT ACTS LIKE IT WILL ONLY SHIFT BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH GEAR BUT STAYS IN THE SAME GEAR. I AM SURE THIS SOUNDS CONFUSING BUT I DONT REALLY KNOW ANY OTHER WAY TO EXPLAIN IT.ANY IDEAS? IS THIS A COMMON PROB. WITH BANSHEES? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS, NEWBIE! Edited February 12, 2009 by smokd
twizted269
my buddy had this problem and his shift star came loose. also it could be worn out, shift shaft spring, or bent shift forks. may have to split er in 2.
Justintoxicated
sounds like you welded the ball to the clutch rod. Never hold the clutch in while coating down a large hill. This can also happen from holding the clutch in while reving the bike up to get a good launch. Yes it is a common problem, get a pandcake bearing when you replace the rod and ball.
