flyRTby
Looking at getting an Aftermarket CDI Box for my banshee. I stumbled upon this "AMS CDI Stage 3" and "AMS CDI Stage 2" on Ebay. AMS CDI BANSHEE. When i talked to the guys at Magic Racing they basically told me the same company makes all CDI's they just put a different name on them. So if i buy the 500 dollar CDI ill get the same results if i go with the 100Dollar box. Just wanted to get a feel for what you guys are running and if there really is a difference in boxes. If its worth the 100-500 bucks, Noticeable difference etc. SRP, AMS, Vitos and Trinity. Thanks Edited February 12, 2009 by flyRTby

flyRTby
Really? No one runs them on here, eh? I'll be heading to Silver Lake this July. I'm looking for something to give me a slight ADVANTAGE Vs. my budd and his Sheee. I was hoping that a CDI would be a little sneaky trick. Bummerr Sweet Challenger  Edited February 12, 2009 by flyRTby

flyRTby
Tors Removed, Pro Flo K&N w/lid, Toomey T5's, Dirt Digger Clutch.. thats about it. i was thinking about putting a K&N Power Lid on... ??
tundish2800
You should not waste your money you would be better off getting a port job to give you more hp
shanYE west
if you have a pro flow.. ditch the lid.. The CDI's are a waste of money as already said.. Stock is fine.. Buy a timing plate to raise the timing. Its alot cheaper and a bigger bang for the buck. Also.. look into a cool head. I'll be @ silver lake in July also... hopefully my motor is done so I can ride it...

fast500#12
seriously don't waste your money. i ran the procomp cdi and the only way i could get my bike to start was to pull start it. i went through 6 cdis from procomp before i had them give me my money back, and they didn't even want the last one back (that sould tell you something). leave the cdi stock and advance your timing with a adjustable plate. that is all the aftermarket cdi's claim to do any way, because your rpms are limited by your pipes on a 2 stroke not your cdi. flyRTby
Thanks everyone for the quick and too legit information! I ride dirt and sand always avoiding big puddles. Are pods still my best bet or will the power lid work just fine? Just have a few questions about the Advance Timing Plate. What are the Pro's and Con's of advancing my timing?? If I'm not mistaken advancing the timing will cause spark/detonation to occur before TDC. That being said, do i run the risk of burning up my piston Pre-maturely? Also, what do i advance it to? +2 +4 etc? Thanks again in advance! Edited February 12, 2009 by flyRTby
J-Madd
Just lose the airbox lid. The pro-flow K&N is fine. I wouldn't spend money to upgrade from that to pods. Advance the timing +4. Put in fresh plugs and do a WOT plug check to see if your jetting is good. YOu can have the head shaved 0.020'' and should bump up the compression about 20 to 30 psi. You should still be able to run pump gas.

kotin6
I have an aftermarket CDI and notice no difference what so ever
SonOfSand
What about detonation with timing plate at +4?
shanYE west
Their wont be any detonation with the plate set to +4. Could probably even go to +7 with no detonation and stock head on 93+ pump
