pinned247
I've done some searching on here and couldn't seem to find what I need. Whenever I ride my thumb gets sore as hell. I've ridden some other bikes including banshees and it seems like their stock thumb throttle is a lot easier to push than mine. I guess I'm wondering if I need to replace my cables or just slap them with some lube... Can anyone steer me in the right direction on how to's and where to get new cables (or thumb throttle) if i need them? THANKS!
shee4speed
you running stock carbs? I am running PWK's and cut a couple loops out of the springs. My throttle is still harder than all my buddys. You'll just have to toughen up and workout that thumb.
blaster2006
hmm.. my banshee.. still has the TORS boxes on.. and my mechanics banshee doesnt have them... and easily we could tell that his cable is WAY harder to pull than my cable with the tors. so if you removed your TORS maybe that has something to do? locogato11283
cables wear out over time. replacement may be in order. some people spray lube into their cables to help them move easier.
THE GRIM RIPPER
I think the tors does ease the pain a little bit. I guess its because theres a little bit more leverage maybe? I dunno, its been so long since I've even seen a tors setup. But whatever carbs your running as said before you can cut a couple loops out of the return springs. On another note, if you cant remember when the last time you replaced your cables was.... Replace them, and then clean them out with the cable lube and clamp kit every 3-4 rides.... Jeff sells them along with RMATV and a million other places. If you do this, the cables will last a hell of alot longer and stay fairly easy to pull / push

I also run cut springs but if you cut too much you increase the chances of the slide sticking in the throttle so I would go with an extender first, unless your cheap Edited February 13, 2009 by Justintoxicated
pinned247
I do have stock carbs and I believe stock cables. Thanks for all your help! I appreciate everyones feedback. Going to figure out how to lube these things or even better, probably get some new ones. It's probably easy but I'm not quite sure how to do it. Does it describe how to do it in the Clymer's? toolman
Replace the cable!!!!!!!!!! I have had clutch problems and come to find out it is the cable. Get a twist throttle it works better than thumb throttle. I bet that will start some shit.
KaosBanshee44
This will solve alot of your problems http://farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=145 I would replace the cable if it hasn't been replaced in a while also. If your cheap (and stupid) then go get an "extender" and when it jabs you in the knee or leg dont say I didnt tell you it WAS GOING TO JAM YOU IN THE KNEE OR LEG. Second of all, they look gay Third of all, I've had stock thumb throttles, twist, and am currently using the moose racing thumb throttle.. And the Moose Racing thumb Throttle is the biggest piece of shit. I mean that wholeheartedly. A well maintained stocker is the way to go. Replace the cable!!!!!!!!!! I have had clutch problems and come to find out it is the cable. Get a twist throttle it works better than thumb throttle. I bet that will start some shit. Twist is excellent if your say..... On a dirtbike The reason twist throttles dont come on quads is there is side-to-side motion, your using your grip to control the bikes horizontal motion. On a dirtbike that motion is non existent..... Therefore twist is controllable And I'll be the first to say twist is easier on the muscles, and you can even get pretty fast with it.... but it just isnt for a quad imo. You need that grip to control the bike
fasstbanshee
i have twist on my banshee for 3 years and prefer it. when i first put it on way back in 03 on my old shit box raptor it was a holy shit difference but once your used to it its totally controllable
