Leak Down Test

So my buddy is doing a leak down test on a motor... It lost 1/2 in 4 hours.... Could the cold weather " 25/35 " deg's then going upto 60/70 deg's in the garage be causeing this to go down in psi?? Should we not wurry about the 1/2 of psi drop in 4 hours? If there was a leak it would of been alot less psi when we checked it right?

:thanks: that tight huh?

Thanks for chimeing in guys!! Chad see your dumb ass next week fruite cake

I was told 6psi, for 6 min, sooo 5 for 5, 6 for 6, whatever, doesn't matter. If that bitch only dropped 1/2 psi in 4 hours, its tight as a frogs ass. Fire it up and run it.

sorry.. but may i ask what are you talking about ? what is leaking?

Leak down test to make sure everything is sealed up and there is no air leak's within the motor.. Its a good check to see if you have any air leaks after rebuilding etc etc..

Its a simple test and for like 20/25 bucks of parts its well wourth it.

I will make you one... What you do is pull off your exhaust.. You get caps to cap them off... Now for the intake same idea but in 1 side u put a plug where u can fill the cyl's up with air..and on the 2nd intake you put a gauge... then you fill it up to 6psi for 6 mins... If it holds the psi your engine is tight no air leaks...If it loses air then you have a leak in your engine and could make it run like shit.. Mine was held 6psi for 6 hours lol. Never budged.. We miss understood what we were told..
