JasonsBanshee
I'm running stock 14 / 41 gearing and it can be hard to launch in 2nd gear without a little hesitation. Will a 13 front sprocket help out? I don't mind loosing some top end, I never hit 6th gear pinned anyways.
F.T.W. Banshee
Yeah it will help to drop a tooth or two in front.
JasonsBanshee
I've an extra 13 tooth here in the garage. I'll swap it out to see what happens....
wacko2000
I believe going up in there rear will help you out some. With stock gearing, jetted perfect my shee was a bitch to launch in 2nd, until i got her ported then shee would break them loose no problem out of the hole, with no hesitation or bog. Good luck
Michael Jackson
yea 13 did me well,, i never use 6th gear where i ride and sometimes it gets tight, i dropped to 13/41 and love it, can launch 2nd easy now
locogato11283
yep, dropping up front will make it easier to pull 2nd. you cant really compare setups to anyone elses. rider weight, tires, swingarm length, riding surface all play a part. each individual case is different. I've been thinking about dropping a tooth in the front to a 13, after reading all the positive replies I will switch them out. I do have a question though, will I be able to keep the stock chain if I go from a 14 to a 13??? Also, will going to a 13 be a noticable difference? magz
i just recently dropped mine, when i had a 14 i didnt have a problem starting from second on a race on dry dirt, i could drop the clutch and go no hestiation. but when i was in the sand, if i didnt ride it exactly right it would bog if i slightly let up off full throttle or my nose would come up to high. now im on a 13 and i can feather the gas with no bogs and i can keep the nose a couple inchs off the ground untill i hit gears and start shift fast. havent tried it in the sand yet though. plus i ride with alot of 4 strokes, so i figured the higher rpm's in the low sprocket will help me ride with them
Beachcruiser
Yeah it sounds about what mine does. How do you like the advance timing?? I called up Jeff from FAST and he said it would be a noticable difference.
Woolfman
I switched to 13 and wouldn't switch back. Alot easier to start in second and helped on tight trails and still works great at the dunes.

GrMeyer
dropped a tooth up front for last dune trip and it did great.... didnt get to run the hill because I put a hole in the piston from a pod coming off. so no more stock clamps on my bike... Learned the hard way on that one.

I can tell you from experience on my bike, if you drop to a 40 in the rear and have 13 up front, you wont like the 2nd gear holeshot. Mine bogged a little to much for my liking. I would put the 14 back on if I were you, I love the stock gearing, my bike rips out of the hole in 2nd.
