xsinnerx
hey guys, i am running stock stroke dune ported stock jugs, t-5's, 33 pwks with pods, noss head with 18 cc domes at 1000' elevation, +4 timing v-force 3 reeds. I'm wanting to go faster but I dont have much of a budget to work with. I would really like to have a 421 cub but cant afford the jugs, crank, pipes to compliment the jugs, piston kit and maybe even a lock up and over ride. my current cylinders can not be reported for the 4 mil, so if I went for a 4 mil stock jug set up I would have to get another set of jugs, have them ported and a 4 mil crank and piston kit, and domes for the 4 mil. if I went for the stock stroke cub all i would need are the cylinders, piston kit, and domes correct?? which would run harder the 4 mil drag ported stock jugs or the stock stroke cub? bbcmudtruck
I disagree. I would go with the 4mil stock cylinders and then when you can, upgrade to a 68mm 4mil cub.
00tbanshee
its all in what type of riding you do.i have never had a stock stroke cub but have a 421 cub ported and had a 4mil stock cylinder drag ported by hjr.this is what i have to say about the 2.the 4mil stock cylinder ran pretty much the same et's at the track as the 421 cub when it wasn't ported.throw a drag port on the 421 cub and it would smoke the stockers.so i would say the 4mil stock cylinder is what i would go with over a stock stroke cub thats if you have a really good guy that is porting them.hope this helps you out
locogato11283
id go with the 4mm stock cylinders. call FAST. Jeff will get you set up.
gregrob
If you want a cub just to say you have a cub, go that way. But go with ported stock cyls and a 4mil if you want to make more power. My HJR ported duner ran with bonbons stock stroke cubs. I only had T-5's and he was running shearers, both on gas and I'm a lot heavier. Now that I have mine on meth with shearers there would be no comparison. Never seen a stock stroke OR 4mil cub run close to Bigred's stock cyl 4mil either, ported by Eric Gorr...

I said earlier with the stock stroke cub all i would need is the top end, and if i go with the 4 mil stock cylinder i would need a crank and another top end and thats more than i'm able to spend right now. i've decided to go another season with my HJR hillshooter/dune port and save enough money for a 421 for next year. I might send my juggs back to kevin and have him report them with a drag port in the meantime
gregrob
Ok, I'm just saying you can make more power and go faster than a 421 cub for a lot less money than you will end up spending... I would put Bigred's gorr ported 4mil stock cyl up against any 421 cub any day and I gaurantee you the cub wouldn't touch it. All the cubs I race wouldn't run with my 4mil fast ported drag bike either... The only cub that ran with that bike was a 10mil, and we were side by side... He had 40mm lectrons, shearer oof's, alky, etc. It's all in how you set it up, but a set of stock cylinders in the hands of a knowing builder, ported for a 4mil can haul complete ass... Dont get me wrong, I run stock cylinders but read that quote. your saying that a 4 mil stock cyclinder would be faster than a 4mil cub. Dont buy it, maybe Bigreds is fast but if the same builder built both there would be no comparison. just my .o2

It will cost ALOT of money to get a stock cylinder bike to make the same power as a 421 cub. Not saying it can't be done.. but.. it wont be cheaper! Been down that road. The port work alone will be well over 1k. (welded transfers and triple exhaust ports from a well known builder) 2. There is no way you can guarantee that no 421 cub will touch bigreds 4mil stocker.. I'm sorry.. thats just flat out BS right there..... Will it beat some 421's?... Sure it can.. I see it everday... Will it beat all of them?? Highly unlikelly... 05.Banshee.SE
5th. Go with the stock 4mil w/ dune/drag port until you have the cash for the cub. Or just wait til you have more cash.
STINKYDELUXE
I would go with the 4mm set up if your cylinders are ported too far for a 4mm conversion you could easily trade/sell them for virgin cylinders that could be ported for a 4 mm
