the only way i can get it out is a tap extracter or drilling it out. what does a tap extractor do?

get a tap extractor. it has 2 fingers that insert into the flutes. be careful tho, they will break too if its in a big enough bind.

heres a pic of one http://www.newmantools.com/walton/extrtap.htm

28s aren't that expensive if you find them used. They bolt right onto the stock boots. At least mine did but they are Mikunis. Not sure about the Keihins.

I traded a set of steel wheels and BFG tires for mine.

i got everything on and working good. but it wont idle with the screws all the way in. i think i might need to get the slides up some more. how much of a gap should there bee at the bottom of the slides?? plus i think its gonna take awhile to tweak em back to normal with the thumb throttle adj. and the syning etc.

If it doesn't idle with the idle screws screwed all the way in, you probably need to grind a little more off of the bosses so that the needles go into the main body further.

I can't remember how much I had to grind off but, I am thinking 2mm.?

Damn! Who doesn't use lube when they tap? Aluminum is an alloy and should always have lube when tapped else it will guald. Lube is always better, ask your wife! Never tap dry, your just asking for issues. Best O Luck!

a while back i had two of my buddys bikes over to have the tores removed.on one i did it by the book with the idel screws and all as per the instructions.on the other set i didnt put in the idel screws(for a test).both bikes ideled the same and had the same throttle responce.the on that didnt have the screws was a hell of alot easier to adjust.so since then i dont screw around with the screws..just toss them in the trash..
