Ieat4strokes Posted January 16, 2009 Report Share Posted January 16, 2009 read the how to....... i have timing plate and flywheel puller in hand.... problem is i have no air compressor for my air tools.... so that being said whats the sure fire way to remove the flywheel without stripping the puller's threads? my flywheel is rusty as well as the bolt and nut and i can see this happening..... im going to soak it in some good penetrant for a hour or so before i even attempt and take a wire brush to the threads and clean em best i can...... but ne other old school tricks to break the nut free???? thats what i need!! thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

bansheefreak Posted January 16, 2009 Report Share Posted January 16, 2009 go buy a cheap elect impact... if you cant do that you can try a tapping the rachet to get it to break lose but will be hard cus the bike and/or motor is gonna try moving... hammer/mallot tapping a rachet is poor mans impact..either way you still need a puller like nyuk says get 2 of them... You will more then likley ruin your stator this way. If you have the means to drill, you can get a small peice of flat bar stock and use some long bolts that fit the holes in the side of the flywheel to make your self a tool to hold the flywheel in place. Most people say not to use an impact on a puller because it will mess the treads up from time to time. I know i am sure lots of people do it myself included but thats why they say not to because it will ruin the threads once in a great while. As far as the hammer on a breaker bar thing goes it is really easy and as the other guy said it is a poor mans impact lol if you need more than 2 hands to do it you are just not old school enough i guess lol Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
