shogs
It's not fair to ask us all these questions and not even post a picture of the beast.. I'm more of a trial guy but good luck with your build. 8 over for a swinger sounds good since you have some extra weight. I dunno about paddles though. devin4491
yeah i say 10 or 12... oh yeah, your going to nee a drag axle, no matter what. you will break any other axle and hub that isnt heavy duty. i was building an r1 banshee, but now i want a plain banshee so i scratched the plans. but yeah at least a 10 over, and what kinda riding you gunna do in the sand? dragging or hillshooting, or just duning? i dont think 14 paddle extremes will be enough.. at all. LS1Inferno
we went 6 over on the swinger. and its a carbed zx900 motor. we put the motor a little too low the skit plate is really low to the ground. the hard part was finding a shock on a budget. we got an older air shock on a kz1000 or somthing. we have 16 paddle 22" dick cepeks for it. J-Madd
Hope you're running 530 sprockets and chain on that, and reinforced motor mounts of some sort. I don't think you'll ever get the full potential out of that on the Banshee chassis. You also need a strut that runs from the chassis to the swingarm to keep it from flexxing. Good luck. LS1Inferno
our motor mounts are done strong as hell see the side bar it mounts to a motor mount too. the other side has two of em. the back has 4 mounts. and i still have the 530 chain and sprockets. im worried about the hubs and shit. shanYE west
There is going to be a huge power loss from switching it from a bike chassis to a quad chassis.. If it was supposed to make 140hp.. I would expect numbers around the 105-120hp mark.. Usually its around a 20-25% loss. They seem to be very hard to get setup properly for sand. I would say with that weight probably a +10 swinger with 11pdl extremes (73ro) or +12 swinger with 12pdl extremes (73ro) Good luck on the build and post some pictures up!
ryskie22
i do have some 21-12-10 18 paddle by sand tires unlimited that i was thinking maybe i could have comp cut to get the rotating weight down, maybe those will work and a 8 over swingarm, what do you guys think. jayzx10r
Motorcyclist Magazine dynoed their 2000 GSXR750 at 123HP at 12,500RPM and 57.7 lb-ft torque at 10,000RPM. I've ridden an '02. Nice top end powerband. Should be a fun ride!!
njbanshee
There is going to be a huge power loss from switching it from a bike chassis to a quad chassis.. So your saying after all this hard work he could possible make less power then a cub motor, and would be much heavier. How do those guys on youtube make them so nasty? I too was thinking of buying a street bike motor and putting it in a banshee frame. I would be pissed if my cub was faster when i was done. 01rippnshee
no matter how you figure it its gonna be sick haha i wanted to do a 1000 motor but the 750 was all there and cheap so i bought that just wondering are you gonna use the gsxr tank and sender or are you gonna try to keep the banshee tank and modify it for the efi sender and pump im still think i wanna try to use the banshee tank but ill figure it out when i get there
bansheeboy2012
It isn't my normal ride, neither is it a banshee, but i have a 400ex with a 1998 crb600 f3 motor in it, have a +14 swinger, and 25" ultra buff Haulers, and a 68 horse shot of nitrous, and it keeps front tires on the ground, but yah, need drag axle, you snap 'em real quick with any stock, or light weight ones, It rides real good, NO jumping, but it slides sideways around the corners like no other with the 25" dirt tires on it, and burns em off if im dragging it Yet it is very trailable Edited February 11, 2009 by bansheeboy2012
