S-10 Project

Hey buddy speaking of the axle have you seen the 14 bolt conversions they do so you can run a 14 bolt in the front like you were talking about with the 44? If you build it right they're pretty cheap and stand up alot better than the Dana 60

No i have not seen that. I started to build a front 14 bolt a couple of years ago then we sold then pickup and i have never gone back to the project. The only problem with the 14 bolt is you can only run a gear as low as a 5.13 and the housing hangs so low but you can trim the housing.

Well we have made a little more progress on the S-10 so i thought i would share the pic i took the other night. LOL it is cool to fire up an S-10 and have it shake the whole shop when it is running.

If you reach your 550hp goal, 4.88s will be just right. I ran 44 uncut boggers with 410s and 600hp, and that was in a full size truck. I ran a beefed up 44 in the front with a 205 in the middle and a 14 bolt factory posi out back. If all your going to do is mud race, research the beefed up 44. It saves you quite a bit of weight and not to mention ground clearance. Plus it will only be $600 fully built as opposed to $1k for a stock 60. Cool project man!!

I would never run a dana 44 front with 44" boggers. Unless you like changing axles. Dana 60 fronts are all over the place. Anyware between $400- $750.

It has a 60 in the front i have no intentions of putting a 44 in one with this big of tires and this much motor.

We took the S-10 out on the sand for the first time last weekend. This thing goes like a bat out of hell. It is a ton of fun to drive! Here is a short little vid of one of the hill climbs. We went up every dune in two wheel drive.
