BUILDER Posted January 7, 2009 Report Share Posted January 7, 2009 My buddies decided that he wanted to build a pickup so we started with a 4 wheel drive extended cab S-10 with a 4.3 V6 in it. It now has a 454 that i built for him that is pushing around 550 horse with a turbo 400 and a 205 transfer case. We are putting a dana 60 in the front and a 14 bolt in the rear with 4.88 gears and he is going to run cut 39.5 boggers all the way around on it. It should run like a rapped ape when we are done. We got the motor, tranny and transfer mount last night now just working on headers. It is a fun project i will post some more pics as we go. I ran 44 uncut boggers with 410s and 600hp, and that was in a full size truck. I ran a beefed up 44 in the front with a 205 in the middle and a 14 bolt factory posi out back. If all your going to do is mud race, research the beefed up 44. It saves you quite a bit of weight and not to mention ground clearance. I have 5.13 in my chevy with cut 44 boggers but with 39.5 we normally run 4.88. We run them on the dunes and in the mud we are not rock crawling. You must have had better shit in your than i did in mine lol. The only reason we are running the 60 is because we already have it and i already but the 4.88 gears in it we he said what the hell lets run it. We have ordered 2 set so far and the last set fit but you couldnt bolt the front fenders back on. I dont believe i have the stuff to fab up a set of headers that nice. I wanted to see the drivers side to see who your steering was done. We will get our new headers today so i hope i dont need to change them to much i got the radiator mounted last night i will get some pics of it we put it in the bed since this will be a mudding and sand drag rig. That picture was from when it had a manual box. Since then, I put a narrowed mustang II rack in it, and dropped the motor 4 inches down and 2.5 inches back. The coloumn exits the firewall in the same place as before, but the shaft goes in between 3 and 5 primaries just for distance reference. Evan Cool i figured that was were i was going to need to run the shaft but i have not got the headers on it yet to be sure. They should have got in last night and i am going tonight to get them mounted and hopefully my push rods showed up so i can get the motor finished up tonight also. 278 Posted January 14, 2009 Report Share Posted January 14, 2009 Hey buddy speaking of the axle have you seen the 14 bolt conversions they do so you can run a 14 bolt in the front like you were talking about with the 44?
