Darthwall Posted January 1, 2009 Report Share Posted January 1, 2009 ok great thing happened to me today got the motor all back together kicked it over a couple of times and it fires right up. gave it a little gas and two of the studs holding the head on popped right out of the cylinder made sure they were all the way down and tried again coolant everywhere so I was looking at the heli coil topic at the top of the page and was wondering if the helicoil will be good enough or if I should go with a time sert? any input Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

2001Stroker Posted January 1, 2009 Report Share Posted January 1, 2009 Holy crap dude. I had the prodesign studs in those jugs for a while. What the hell happened? A helicoil wouldn't hurt it. Just make sure that you Lock-Tite them in there. And make sure the stud screws all the way down too. Cause the Heli-Coils have that peice at the bottom that you screw them in with. peterlocal22 Posted January 1, 2009 Report Share Posted January 1, 2009 (edited) helicoil should work but not recomending from exp. on the head of the motor. ive used it for the bolt on the side of motor that acts as a drain bolt for the antifreeze. theres one on each side of the motor. anyways the helicoil worked great. Visit This Website I sell them and they are way stronger then helicoils. They also come in many sizes, metric and standard, carbon steel and stainless. The only problem is that you need to drill out the damaged hole quite a bit bigger then you would using helicoils, but if you have the room, it's a much better repair. firebanshee Posted January 2, 2009 Report Share Posted January 2, 2009 My boy had a hopped up blaster that started pulling head studs and i tried helicoils to fix it and the studs would keep working themself loose, i put in timeserts and never had any more problems.
