I cant remember off the top of my head right now but for some reason I want to say that there are two larger ones for the crank??? one for each bearing? But I might be wrong, it's been a little while. then the clips that go on the tranny.

Just look at the case halfs, if it has the trench cut out for a c clip then it takes one half of the proper size. You want to try and get one half of the clip on the top case half and one half of it on the bottom case half if possible.

There are 2 circlips on the drive axle shaft (the one with the sprocket), one Big one and one Small one. Then there is one Big one on the crankshaft (right side). As added security/strength, we often put an extra one on each big one but you dont have too. And yes i do carry em if needed.

This is exactly how mine was when I disassembled my engine (except I seem to remember a snap ring on the primary shaft instead of a circlip  )...

Clymer's manual is the same way, and if these are wrong, I guess my engine is destined to grenade.

The bearing retainers are more of a half snap ring rather than a circlip. The terminology used is not consistent with the nomenclature standards I am aware of. I will concede that the name circlip and snap ring can be used interchangeably since both function exactly the same.

BTW: I do this as a hobby, and I am not trying to argue with anybody...

Is it possible to use a circlip/snap ring in place of the bearing retainers?

If you are installing two bearing retainers, no wonder your engines are slow, all that extra weight! :woot: :whistling:

Im sure you could we use a full circlip on the Max load and TZ bearings.

Ahhh, i knew there had to be a reason.
