Build Help

I have a stock unmolested motor ready for a build. The bike is a woods and hill climber. Used to climb mud and dirt covered pipelines and trails in Eastern Ky. The bike has a 6" swingarm and +2 up 1 A -arms. I'm a fat ass 300lbs. so that complicates things too. Im looking for build ideas to get the best performance in these conditions and still kick modded Raptors asses.

I have been looking at 4mils, 404 big bores, long rods, etc.

Im looking for a complete build Motor, Cylinder Port, Pipes, Carbs, ect.

How and what you would build for me with a budget of 2500.00

I had been considering CPI in Frames, 35mm PWKs, Reeds, Intake, etc...

What has me held up is do I want a 4mil Stroker with a Trail Port on my cylinders or do I want a 68mil Cub with stock porting.

Money wise im close to my budget either way a little over with the cub. I figure I could always get them ported later.

With is the better way to go? Most horsepower, relability, and appropriate for what I am wanting to do?

If you're just looking to whoop some Raptor's asses and ride trails, I would stick with the stock cylinder and get a good trail port done. Don't bore it any more than you have to. Leave some for later on down the road, if you have to rebuild again. Definately get a 4mil longrod. Get you a coolhead with 21cc domes (to stay on pump gas), adjustable timing plate (set at +4), either 33 or 35 PWK's, and some good midrange pipes. From what I've read, I wouldn't get a Cub for what you're doing with it. Cubs come pretty much drag ported. You can get more out of them, but they're made to give you a shit load of mid-top end power. You need some bottom end with a woods bike. Now if you had a bigger budget, you could get a beast of a Cheetah power valve motor. That's what I'm getting ready to build for trails and climbing. Gotta wait on income taxes though, before I get the expensive stuff.

the cpi set up would be sweet trail machine plus mean to craptors straight up..... with the right port set up...

the cubs like the pv would be mean ... plus 4mm ... ouch trees cum up quick lol need tractor wieghts to hold the frontend down..

I would go with a 4mill ported stock cylinder engine. The 4 mill gives you a harder midrange pull and helps add some torque. Once you port your cylinders for a stock stroke crank you cannot have them reported for the 4 mill. So if your thinking about doing a 4 mill I would just bite the bullit and do it.

Get the port job that taylors your riding style. How tight are the trails that you ride? If your climbing hills I would go for a dune port.

For carbs I would run PWK 33's.

For the riding style you have described I really don't think you would appreciate the cub. Depending on how fast the trails are the CPI's may or may not be the ideal pipe, they are a great mid to top pipe, but leave a little to be desired in the bottom for a tight trail application. I have built bikes with CPI's that see some fast trail use and people have loved them. You will have no problems schooling those raptors with the right work done.

A Cub on CPI's sounds like way too much for a trail rider. Stock cylinders can produce more than enough trail riding power!! Nothing wrong with stock ported cylinders with Pro Circuits, Fatties, T5's!

Those setups with stock carbs, ported reed cages, decked heads, shaved flywheels, advanced timing & K&N pods will make it a great trail banshee! Talk to slobanshee06 & have him set you up your riding style.

Im a big ol boy myself and know what it takes to get us big guys moving. Sounds like for your budget and type of riding i would go with a 4mm Play port, T5s, and 33 PWKs. This will have power everywhere and leave your 4 stroke buddies jealous. Check our website for pricing and ideas for your build. Give a holler if we can help.

I agree you would be really pleased with a stock cylinder 4 mill and you could do it for the money you are looking to spend.

Unless you ride up in Oregon...I'd stay away from the cubs for trails as well.

Why did you make that comment dajogejr? Just curious what the differance is between here and somewhere else?
